Milsub Spotting

Check out the cover of this months Conde Naste portfolio. Starbucks Chairman Howard Schultz wears a nice MilSub.

They've saturated a lot of markets. Quantity of stores is not equal to revenue.

Near my office, which is in a normal suburb of DC, we have at least 3 or 4 Starbucks within a 5 minute drive, plus the Starbucks machine serving free coffee in the break room at my company. There's one in Target, there's one in the parking lot of Target, there's one in the next strip mall up the road, and the next one after that.

Peet's baby, Peet's! Major Dickason's blend to be exact!!!

BTW - nice watch, although I can't really see it in this picture. Maybe I'll have to cruise by a mag shop soon. I've never really thought of a MilSub as the ultimate 'cycling watch'...but love the idea he uses it in all environments.

So does Hannibal Lecter, as seen in the final scene of "Hannibal". Must be good!

I love Starbucks coffee....

But, if I drank it all the time, I would never be able to afford a MilSub.....

We grind our own at home each morning. No floofy flavores just good columbian beans, filter water and sweet and low for me.

I want to open a coffee house some day that ONLY serves black coffee! I despise all these flavored drinks & lame concoctions. Why even use good coffee beans to make them...'cause god knows you can't taste the coffee. That and the fact that I have to wait in line when all I want is a large black coffee is crap. At a minimum I believe coffee houses should have a "Black Coffee Only" express line...kind of like the 10 items or less at the grocery store.

Viva La MilSub...I didn't want this to turn into a coffee thread!

I too only drink coffee black, but only drink it a scant few times a year, as it can have quite a strong effect on me.

but err, about the MilSub, does anyone have clearer pictures of this piece?

1) I don't get the Starbucks downturn, b/c every one in L.A. has a line of people in it waiting to buy coffee.

2) I wish I could see the mil sub on that putz's wrist!

Go check out the magazine at a store, but do it quickly. The August issue is out there now.

You'll also note in the photo of him and his son at a Sonics game, the son is wearing a nice Pepsi GMT. In some of the shots Schultz has his milsub under the sleeve of his bike shirt.

I drink it. I've had better coffee, but it's pretty darned good for free work coffee.

I prefer half-n-half and Splenda, thank you. If I drank it black I would have perpetual heartburn.

A military sub.....so now we know where all the Starbucks profits have gone

I can't see it in the photo as it's too small, but it is pretty amazing that he would have a military sub when cycling Oh well each to their own.

Thanks for sharing this pic & info.

What's w/ that icon & the MilSub? Didn't you deem it the 'Official - Unofficial' GV icon in another thread?

Here in Indonesia, they always opened "one" location almost every month...

It's Sean fault... this thread nearly got away... but no...

Cafe Estime (Pressed) @ Starbucks, Powerstation, Macapagal Avenue, Pasay City, Philippines

I promise to post one with a Rollie soon...

On the Milsub... he must be a Rolex or watch collector to appreciate a fine timepiece like that. Anything about that in the article?

Ahhh, glad you liked it. I've tried many over the years, but I keep coming back to Peets Major D's and always make sure to have at least 2 bags in the house at all times. Drinking some now as I type...love it!
