Bluesy Flat vs Sunburst Dial?

Did Rolex change from one to the other at some point between the 16613 and the 116613? Am looking to add some color so am looking at bluesy and YM Blue dial. Love the movement of the sunburst dial but have seen a couple of listings the specify flat blue dial...?

yup. early part of this decade, the TT blue submariner had a flat blue dial.

the pic below (not mine) has diamond markers, but, gives the idea with a comparison.

and when it initially switched to the ceramics (not my pic):

flat blue (again, not my pic):

latest sunburst blue (not my pic):

16613 Had sunburst
116613 Released with Flat blue (smurf) dial
116613 Changed to Sunburst blue dial a couple of years ago

Personally I had the flat blue, and it was amazing. At the same time I have seen the sunburst blue at the AD and I was amazed as well.

Thank you Sir. She is a sweetheart. Kind of a rescue. Sweet little girl. She always goes down the pub with me and is kind of a celebrity down there and about town. Rides in a bag on my bike which people just love.

While not a TT fan, I've had the old 16613 'burst and the 116613 in Flat, and will take flat any day of the week! Check 'em both out and buy what you like best!

Blue anywhere on a watch is welcome in my eyes.
I had the sunburst Bluesy last year for some months and loved looking at that dial.

I have to say the sunburst is more stunning. But I ended up getting the flat blue because it's more unique. I think value will go way up in the future as the "Golden Smurf" was only made for a few years.

I have the 18ct flat blue.I prefer this, the bezel matches the dial perfectly in all lighting unlike the newer sunburst. The aluminium insert on the five digit was,IMHO,a far better match colourwise for the sunburst dial.

Kind Regards

Nigel

My TT Sub Sunburst Blue was one of the few I regretted selling. Mistake corrected as the PM disease was in full bloom.
