White ExpII owners who also own other Rolexes

I am curious how often your ExpII gets worn in comparison?

The white ExpII "smiles" at me when I try it on. In fact, today I compared it to a GMTIIC and I wanted to like the GMTIIC more, which I did like it, but every time I went back to the ExpII I really liked it.

What conerns me is that looking at pictures of people that have older ones, it "appears" that the brushed bezel has lost some of that brushed look, if you follow. I really like the look of the brushed bezel with the polished edge. So I suppose I am also asking how its look holds up over time?

over time I have acquired some sweet, for me, watches. I wear a white explorer 98% of the time. It is easy to read, looks good, and can be worn everywhere I go. Great watch.

My ExpyII is Noir, but I'd really like a whiteface... they're gorgeous and a bit off the beaten track, since so many sport Rollies are blackface. I really love the polar ExpyII.

Love my White

Expy II.
It's a great watch, comfortable and gets probably the most wrist time.

I am in the very lucky position to own several Rolex watches. The Explorer II has gotten more than 50% of wrist time since I purchased it. The last month 100%. I am truly looking forward to let it rest, since I miss the others that resides in the safe at the moment. My "beater" is also an Explorer, the 14270, and this is what happened when the big one tried to do the wiggle test on the little one...

Best,

Exp. II

I have had a few Exp. II's over the years, I wear my watch 24/7 and have never noticed any more wear and tear on the brushed bezel than any other sport model.

To me, IMOP the Exp. II id the MOST comfortable and practical sport model available.

I currently have a Blk. Z serial Exp. II with 3186 movement that I love everything about...

Over time, the brushed finish on the Explorer II bezel will get worn down.. But we are talking years of use...

I'm afraid I don't see much point in having a watch if it's going to sit in a box so the bezel can retain its proper brushed finish...

Agreed, looking at pics of some older one's your correct.

I guess I have never kept one long enough to notice! Hopefully this one will be a keeper and in a few years I will see some wabi...

One thing to remember is a Rolex serivice will alway's bring back the newness, esp. the bezel is a very easy swap.

Mine is almost one year old (Sept) and gets worn a couple of times per week. Of course, it still looks new

It's a great watch that I enjoy wearing. I also really like the fact that it flies under the radar.

The ExpII is a "funny" watch, for the most part it does not photograph well, I have seen a couple exeptions.

White Expy is my daily wearer. Sub is for outdoor stuff, and DJ is for dress--but the Expy gets by far the most wrist time.

luckily those bezels can be refinished to give them their fresh Satin look. It's tricky to work on it if you don't know what you're doing but with the right rotary tools anything is possible.

I assume you must be very careful around the numbers?

yup. There's no other way. Expyii's can also loose their numbers over time and the remedy for that is to remove the factory enamel completely, and refill the numbers with the same factory enamel(with precision of course) and go through a series of baking stages which will ensure that the enamel sticks and doesnt rub off like nail polish or some crap like that. I've seen some Expy's with no Black in the bezel numbers, and their owners simply want to restore the factory rolex appearance without giving up the original bezel. There should be no worry in owning an Expyii. Just be careful of what kind of soap or chemicals come in contact with the bezel numbers since most products other than good ole soap, will pretty much eat at the enamel. That would be my only area of concern.

Looks like one of each: 1655, 16550, 16570... I wouldn't mind that either! Easier to collect black dialled Explorer IIs since the 1655 was only available in black, and the 16550 was sold in two versions of white (not counting all shades of cream colour): With white gold hands and indicies, and black coloured (still white gold) hands and indicies.

Best
