Sea Dweller
Well I took my wifes DJ in to be regulated today, well you know how it is talking watches looking at watches. The AD and I got taking about the new Deapsea and the fact the SD is being discontinued. Well, I had been eyeing up the new 007 Omega but the more I looked at it the more I thought it is just trying to be a seadweller so why wait for the Deapsea as my next Rolex purchase and I have put myself a Deposit down on ...............You guessed it a.....SD
I'm really excited as this was the watch that made me fall in love with Rolex and I feel I shoud definatley own. Now the really intresting bit is the AD says this is the last SD he is going to get and he was considering just putting it in a safe for the future interest that is going to develop when they are discontinued. So now I really do think I have made the right decision

I had an intresting conversation with a wily old swiss watch repairer of 50 years and he said that there is always a spike in the price of a watch when it goes out of circulation or is discontinued, everyone buys thinking they will be rare collectors items, after the initial flurry the demand dies down and so do the prices which return to pre flurry days or slightly worse. This happens quickly.
He said he has seen it hundreds of times on all major brands, so from his advise I deduce that its wise to just buy what you want and not because it might just make £50-£200!!! As the potential risk is there too. So they are worth no more than they ever were but if more appear for sale there price could drop! |
