Icon5 Bezel Restoration

Hi All,

Just wondering if anybody has any recommendations for the restoration of an aluminium bezel insert (UK preferably). I have a Tritium insert which needs some minor work doing, failing that I would be looking at buying a NOS tritium insert 'if i could find one'. Any ideas

Thanks in advance

Keep the old bezel the way it is. It adds value and character to the watch. Source a new bezel for it. Not sure how to go about finding a new one but it's possibly. Perhaps for sale section or auction site.

I'm not 100% sure I understand which watch your talking about. Is ot a gmt ? I see that you have a Daytona listed in your profile

Hi

The bezel insert is for a 1997 Sea Dweller.
I aim to keep the old one but my OCD irritates me when I see the scratch marks on the insert. I guess it isn't too bad but was keen to source/restore as clean tritium inserts are scarce

Thanks

Jake

Aluminum bezel inserts are anodized. Nobody actually "repairs" them in a true sense of re-anodize and restore.

New inserts are pretty cheap. You just need to decide if you really need one with a tritium dot or modern Luminova dot.

Thank you.....
Are the dots interchangeable at all? I am keen to maintain the matching patina and would happily opt for a newer bezel with the original dot.

You won't find an original pearl (the "dot" as you called it) unless it's in an original insert. They've all been long gone. Some people make lookalikes so be careful about that.
You will find some period correct inserts in the Rolex parts listings here that might be the best thing for you.
