Icon7 (Original?) Vintage Date 1601 WITHOUT "Superlative" on "Officially Cert. Chrono."?

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've been on here... I recently bought a nice vintage Rolex but I've never seen a Rolex (caseback dates to Q1 1960) without "Superlative" in the two lines "(Superlative) Officially Certified Chronometer".

Was this intended or was it repainted for whatever reason? I know sometimes small things matter (e.g. "underline dials") and was wondering what this exactly meant... if anything?

Calibre 1560... Butterfly roter. Pics attached; I don't have the MPN but assuming 15xx or 6xxx.

Thanks!!

hi whether it's repainted or not it's the earlier version "OCC" type dial. later versions have the newer style text.

well, apparently it's never been repainted (according to the first owner). I just never have seen it written out like this...

Rolex 1601 should say Datejust, not Date on the dial.

I actually never said Datejust 1601... I said OP Date 15xx; And in reference to the 1st reply, what's the "earlier version OCC dial"?

I know, right? This has to be an earlier Date 6xxx... but my Dad has it right now and I don't have the reference number at hand yet...

I can confirm it's never been repainted or redone. So a bit puzzled...

You put 1601 in the thread title.

Whoops my bad. There's no date 34mm 1601. I don't think this is a 15xx either. But does anybody have an actual answer?

Is that a good thing? In any case, it hasn't been refinished and looks nice in my opinion... especially at the price I got it for...
