SD Reaches Top Of Everest

Maybe old news for some, but news to me ....

I haven't seen that before. So we know that the SD has physically been to at least 1200m below the surface and now it has been to the 29000+ft of Everest. I wonder if that is a record.

I guess it's not only ther explorer II that gets all the press about going to places with extreme weathers.

I know we are all Rolex nuts here and 4000ft below to 29,000ft above is pretty impressive, to be honest most watches should be able to do Everest today.
Back in 1953 when Rolex made such a big thing about the Explorer reaching the summit and sponsoring the climb etc...
It was only Tenzing Norgay who got to the summit wearing an Explorer.
Sir Edmund Hillary was wearing an English made Smiths watch (Smiths were also sponsors) and to be honest although Smiths were around for a long time and made great dashboard instruments for cars their watches in 1953 were not exactly state of the art (infact they never were).
After the climb Smiths marketed the model Hilary wore as the Everest and they are now quite collectable.
