AD Discount
Hi,
I am looking to buy an Oyster Perpetual Datejust 36mm. My AD offered me 15% off MSRP. Is that a good deal? Or have other people been getting 20% from an AD? Please help as I am about to pull the trigger soon. |

15% on a SS model is good. Some guys would give their left nut for that. I get 15% at one Ad and 20% at another all day long on everything SS except a SS Daytona and a GV. Those are sold at MSRP.

It's SS with 18k yellow gold. A "friend" of my has several Rolex watches and he is telling me you can get it for 20% off. I don't know if that is possible.

Most AD's will only give about 15% on a datejust. However, after buying my dad one new I saw the EXACT model only a year old for about 35% off MSRP on this very board in the For Sale section. Datejust don't usually hold their value like sports models and you should use this to your advantage IMHO. That's a beautiful watch by the way!

If it's a newer model DJ (which I am assuming that it is), it is a great deal. Grab it.

Almost the same one, but with Diamonds on the dials.
The listed MSRP price is $10,400.00 USD. I don't know for sure if I can get it for 20% off. I do KNOW for a fact that 15% off the MSRP is what I was offered. Plus no tax. If you are interested, maybe I can ask my AD if I were to buy 2 watches at the same time if they would offer it for 20% off. Would you be interested? |

Almost like that one, but with champagne dial color. That one has the old jubilee bracelet. I'm looking for the hidden clasp one which adds more $$$ to the price.

Yeah, the sports models are more popular as you can see from the boards here. There are about 50 to 1... no make that 500 to one more gmt and sub threads than those for datejusts. Personally I like them and my first Rollie was an SS Oyster band datejust. There just isn't a datejust out there that's hard to get. They had to special order my dad's because he wanted onyx with diamond hour markers, but it was still there within 3 days from Rolex. Try that with a Milgauss GV.

When did Rolex start making their bracelet with the hidden clasp? 2004?

Couldn't hurt to ask. The only thing holding me up is the dial. The Champaign w/Roman is #1 on the list right now but I go back and fourth. This is one of the reasons I've been visiting all of the local AD's. Looking at pics in the internet is one thing, but seeing them in person and trying them on is another. Most of the AD's have the same "stick" dials. I like the diamond look, but I have them on my DD, so I'm looking for something a little more casual.
I have to say...20% w/out tax is a great deal. The watch in the pic lists for $8750...minus 20% (or $1750) and no tax comes out to $7000 even. What is the name of your AD? Is it JE Caldwell? Are you looking at the Champaign "Jubilee" dial like this one... [IMG][/IMG] |

YES! You found it. Just trying to decide if I want that dial or the plain dial without the ROLEX lettering all over the background.
IF you are interested, shoot me a PM of your cell number. I am going to the AD Monday and if they say okay to 20% on the spot, I'm going to buy it. I can call you and give their number to you so you can call them when I'm there and hopefully you can purchase your watch over the phone with them through them. |

15% is good but in the economy, you can probably get 18 to 20% on TT models.

This may sound crazy, or maybe it won't, but I would take cash in there for 20% off plus tax and tell them they can either take it or leave it. My money says they'll take it if you talk to the right person. If it's a chain tell them to make a phone call too a senior manager if you have to.

I asked them about method of payment. They said they don't care and it won't affect discount.

The AD I went to does NOT have the one I want in stock, but they said they can order it and it'll be here in a few days. I tried on the one I want from another AD.
YES, this will be my first Rolex. Actually, I'm buying it for my dad. So, no. |

To be honest, 20% w/out tax is a great deal. I've been to a lot of AD's in the last 2 weeks, and 10% was the best they could do. |
