Did 2 Dives with my SubDate today...

...and I was chuckling a lot of the time each time I thought about the thread about not diving with the watch due to the Earth's core magnetising it.

Well, we didn't go too deep, but nevertheless, the Sub did it's job and lived up to it's name.

Both dives lasted just over 50 minutes, with an average bottom depth of 12 metres.

No pics yet, still waiting for my mate to download them from his camera.

Congratulations on your two dives afraid the Earth's core magnetising it is complete bulls##t.Long time since I was last in Malaysia dived quite a bit on the reefs around Tioman Island and Pulau Tenggol.Quite good diving but not as good as the Red Sea

Thanks Padi, it's been a while for me, and I'm looking forward to more diving coming up. I'm over in Sabah, and we dived just off Kota Kinabalu. Good to see efforts at rejuvenation and reef protection paying dividends.

Mabul and Sipadan are coming up next month, so need to get myself up to speed in the next two weeks, and the Sub will be with me every step of the way. Good thing my buddy has a Suunto

One of my SUBS has been down to 100' many times. Never gave it a thought and never had a problem.

That's pretty cool! I wish I lived in a climate where I could dive almost whenever I wanted.

I know!!! I've been here, where have you been??

I just took my Sub to South Africa, but didn't do any diving! They're coming out of Winter now and the water was way too chilly for a swim! But we're going on a cruise in a month so ya never know......

Glad all is well with you! Is Sue still sportin' that black Expy?

She sure is! It's on rotation among her Coke GMT-II and Aquanaut. She'll be wearing her ExpyII when we dive together over the weekend!

There is no better feeling (speaking of watches and diving) than using your Sub as it was intended

Good! I like it when the professional watches are used as designed. I am sailing a 60 mile race tomorrow, where I fully intend to beat the sh1t out of my Sea-Dweller! Cheers

What class of boat do you sail? I sailed a 40ft Adams (Australian designer/builder) cruiser/racer, '49er, and Beneteau First 7.10. currently looking at the possibility of owning my own cruiser/racer around 32ft. The SubDate accompanied me on many an ocean race.

I want to drop a Sub down to more than 200mts with a string tied to it and pull it back to see if the crystal pops open. Wouldnt that be fun !

Now who wants to lend me his Sub??

While it is not exactly a surprise, at the same time, I am happy to hear that your Rolex Submariner meets it's test with ease. This is one of the things that makes it such a great watch: you don't have to worry about it.

Thanks for the replies folks.

The Sub has always been a 'working' watch for me and it's never been babied.

I have raced mostly on big boats, ranging from a Beneteau 36.7, a J-44 (North American Champion way back when), J-145, Santa Cruz 70, a Reichel-Pugh custom 50, a Nelson-Marek custom 46, a custom IMS 58, as well as a regattas in Melges 24's and a Melges 32. Fresh or salt water, my SD loves it all. I've beat it up racing on the Great Lakes, Newport, Florida, Key West, the Caribbean and points in between, and I never take it off for a race. If you want, I can PM some great boat pics.
