Advice....Help!!
I really want to get the SS Daytona but theres none available for the list price!!!! Therefore, I am thinking of getting a Submariner Datejust for the time being. I am getting a brand new one for 5,325 out the door. Can anyone please let me know if that is a good price?? Shuold I go for it or can I find a better deal someplace else?
I would love to get the SS Daytona however, not willing to pay the 3,000 markup. Let me know!! |

Rolex purchase
There's no such thing as a Submariner Datejust. They're two different watches. If you mean buy the Sub OR the DJ, my recommendation would be the Sub. It's a great watch, and when a SS Daytona becomes available at list, it will be much easier to sell the Sub, with a much lower loss than a DJ, towards buying the Daytona.

Go for the Daytona - you'll only regret it down the road if you settle for something else.

The Sub Date is a great watch. If your heart is set on a Daytona - better to wait. If having both is an option today or in the future get the Sub and wait for the Daytona.

Both watches are so different yet both extremely beautiful and attractive.
I would get a sub date and a White dial Daytona.

Where are you seeing a $3,000 mark-up? Maybe $2,000 mark-up from some of the bigger grey market dealers like Swiss Luxury and Alan Furman. With the state of the US economy and the recent price increase, the SS Daytona market has softened up. It's actually been that way. You should be able to find a BNIB example for $1,000 or so above MSRP on TRF and other forums.
Oh, by the way, go for the SS Daytona. You will not regret it.

Thanks for all your feedback! I meant the Sub w/ date and the price I am getting is 5,325 out the door, is that a good price?? I do like the SS Daytona alot but I am not getting it for the list price. Infact, I know an AD who is willing to sell it to me for 12,500 out the door even though, that I believe is illegal. I guess, that will be close to the price walds11 mentioned 1,500 above markup.
The pics for both the watches look awesome, I am thinking of getting a Sub w/date now and when there is an SS Daytona available, I can get that one too. Worst case scenario, I will trade my Sub for the Daytona. I will post pics of my new watch as soon as I make up my mind. Thanks! |

Your plan sounds good - a Submariner w/date will hold its value very well and if you wait you might get lucky and find a deal on a Daytona later on. |
