How available are explorer 1 (214270 MK2)?

First, I don't start many threads and want to say how great TRF is and thanks to everyone here.

Next watch may be the 214270 (mk2) and I noticed over last 6 months that around here (and even when I was in LV last October), they don't seem to be that common in AD cases. Have been more likely to see an LVc in the case than an exp1. Took a while to finally try one on. AD is currently holding one for me (for MSRP-10%), and was wondering if anyone else has noticed their relative scarcity?

Cheers and happy Friday (almost)!

The smaller AD in my area doesn't have them yet and seems to be having trouble moving their remaining stock of the mk1 214270. Haven't had trouble finding a mk2 at the bigger dealers.

I've yet to see one at a dealer in my area....granted, I don't exactly live in a metropolitan market.

I have shopped around in various markets and have seen very different levels of "availability". In the UK, the Explorer is up there with other SS models and near-impossible to find. But in the US -- even in relatively hot metropolitan markets -- I have seen it fairly regularly. That's not to say it's in every shop window or available for same-day pick-up, but there aren't many wait lists for the 214270. If you want one from an AD, you should be able to get one within a 3-4 week window. At least that's what I've seen...

I was in my local Torneau several days ago and they did not even have one. They had two of the MK1 models. The salesman was under the impression that Rolex was essentially attempting to force them to sell the MK1 model prior to shipment of any additional MK2 models. He said they had an easier time getting them at the end of last year than they do now.

I've seen many an AD as well that have MK1 but no MK2. Love when an uneducated sales person tries to convince me that the MK1 sitting in the case is the "newest" explorer.

My AD has had more hulks and BLNRs in the last year than explorers. I'm ok with that that makes me more unique in my neck of the woods

I see them regularly in the two AD's I've been to (upstate NY). That being said, I still went with the Mk1 and love it! You won't be disappointed with the Mk2.

...can't swing a dead cat around here without hitting one (metaphorically speaking, of course).
