Traded my sd50 for a used sd4k!
Weird, but I traded my new sd50 anniversary for a used sd4k!! I loved the former for the few weeks I owned it but it proved to be a touch too large. I have a 7 1/4 wrist and the watch slid down my wrist due to the weight and rubbed against my hand. As much as I hated to trade it, I'm happy I did. the 6digit sub was my daily for 2 years, so I figured I'd try the old model sea dweller in hopes that it would fit similarly to it. I'm glad I gave it a try. Fit is perfect, and I love the matte dial, no cyclops and smaller bracelet. It's a nice alternative if you want a change from the submariner and the sd50 is too big!

Good trade IMHO. Especially if you like the SD4K better.

Was it an even trade or did you get cash as well?

Yes - SD4k might be a better bet if the SD50 is proving a bit big. Am waiting to see one myself before making up my mind. If too big for me I might go back to the SD4k myself. Had one a few years back but flipped it probably without giving it enough time.

Tried a SDc for the first time and few days ago and was amazed by it. Loved it. Not sure I prefer it over my SD50 but I suppose if you found the Anniversary SD too big it's a no brainier.

Good move if it was right for you. The SD line-up is strong and involves a lot of personal preference. I have acquired a SD43 and think it is the best Rolex dive watch ever created, for me. I like the size, bracelet, glide lock, red text and the new movement. It lost 4 seconds in a month. With that said, Congratulations.

Congratulations John! That's what's so great about Rolex, something for everyone's tastes
I've found with the SD43 and DBlue, that I wear them a touch more snug than other references to prevent what you're describing. Takes getting used to but once you do, you hardly know you have them on. BTW I have a 7" flat wrist. |

Oh why oh why do I keep clicking on threads with pictures of the SD43? Makes me want to put my hands on one even more. Sounds like, for you, that everything the SD4K is, that it suits your preferences more since the SD43 is a totally different animal. Wear and enjoy your new one. I have an SD4K and am waiting for a one on one comparison in person to decide if I should take the plunge.

I'm debating between the all-black GMT Master (not the BLNR) with the matte dial versus the Sub no date with the deep, rich black dial. I have to say, I lean towards the lusciousness of a deep black dial, but I'd love to understand why you prefer the matte. Is there something about the visibility or such? Something practical besides aesthetics I should be aware of? Perhaps less glare? Thank you and congrats on getting what you really wanted.

Congrats. Makes no sense to keep or wear something that doesn't absolutely please you when you wear it. Good move.
