My AD has a DSSD available now and I'm promised the next Daytona SS( white or Black ) he gets in a couple of weeks. What to do...

If you can't afford to buy both then I would buy the SS Daytona. Reason being is the ability to resell the Daytona will be a lot easier then the DSSD should you ever have to sell your watch.

Yeah, I know that the Daytona is hard to come by but the DSSD was something else when I put in on my wrist. My GMT IIC didn't come close...

No dilemma.

Get the Daytona and a Panerai.

most of the above is biased advice IMO based on individual/personal opinion.

have you tried both on your wrist? If not then you should do.

Are you buying to keep, or as most of us here, will you end up px/selling it further down the line.

If you plan to keep, and as you have already said you love the DSSD, then you should buy it.

If you might sell/flip in the near future then the Daytona is the one that will hold its price better in the second hand market.

I have been in your shoes in the recent past, and I chose the DSSD.

i have both and like you said the deep sea wears well if you have the wrist for it. the daytona is smaller but harder to obtain and resales better. in the end please yourself and not others

The Daytona is too small of a watch for me.... DSSD all the way!

If you like the Daytona's small size...then get the Daytona. Can't go wrong! Especially if the price is good.

If you like a hunk of a watch and don't want a Panerai, Breitling, etc. then get a DSSD!

Daytona for me too, the Deep Sea is a very big fella which I think limits the times you can wear it, great piece of kit though,

You sound as though you like the DSSD very much. I would wait a bit until the Daytona comes in to have a try on and see if it sings to you. My best advice is to buy what you love... Do not buy the daytona because it is "RARE" as you will be making a mistake.

Best of luck

I would go for the DSSD. Bigger watch, has a date, and . . . well that's just MY personal preference. Just not that big of a Daytona fan.

If you are going to spend that much on a watch and want a diver, you should buy the ultimate diver made IMHO, the Blancpain Fifty fathoms. I love the Rolex brand but the way they have been raising the prices, I would look towards other brands. The SDDS is extremely overpriced, and if it was me about to spend that much cash, the fifty fathoms would get my money. I know this is a Rolex forum and I would never talk down about the brand, but the fifty fathoms came before the sub and Rolex has been playing catch up ever since.

If you want a chrono, I like the daytona but love the Blancpain once again.

Not my pic. but it is stunning.

DSSD without a doubt..
I have it and LOVE it.
If you like the DSSD get it and don't think twice.
If you aren't sure, get the Daytona.

There's no right or wrong answer. I can only say since you mention you already have a IIc, for me it would be the Daytona. (He says while anxiously awaiting a DSSD)

I know for a fact that the AD's been pretty slow recently( he told me ). I've got a crazy thought... I'm gonna ask for 15% off. My chances?

If you prefer DSSD then there is no dilema. If you also really like Daytona and want one and you don't have to buy the DSSD first to get the Daytona then you should get Daytona first.

Daytona would be my choice - it is more 'everyday" wear than DSSD.

If you plan on keeping the watch, then go with the one YOU like.

Personally, if I had a choice between those two, then I'd opt for the DSSD!!

A few weeks ago the AD called me with a DSSD. I went and tried it on and I decided to wait for the Daytona. I am very pleased that I did. I love it!
