Considering a trade: 116610LV for 16753 Root Beer

As the title states, I have been seriously considering trading my 116610LV for a GMT Master Root Beer preferably on a Jubilee and with the nipple dial. I am really in love with the color combination and the vintage feel that wears as well on the TT Jubilee as it does on a strap.

I love my Hulk and ideally would keep both but cannot justify the added expense of owning both at the moment.

Has anyone here made this move? Anyone here owners of both?

Thoughts/suggestions and recommendations are appreciated!

If you own a 16573 and are interested in trading - please PM me!

Unless you can find a mint Root beer, I wouldn't do it.

I personally would not do it. Matter of fact root beer GMT is my least favorite.

But it seems like it's the one you lust over and from what you state, it's the one that sings to you, so do what you want!

Just be very thoughtful that the desire to own what you don't have is greater than the satisfaction of owning!

Appreciate the input but curious to hear more about why folks wouldn't make the trade. Beyond personal taste (these decisions almost always are!) are there specific reasons as they pertain to perceived value or others? it seems the Root Beers have maintained strong value over the years.

I appreciate this a lot - thank you. She's singing to me in the same way the Hulk sang to me before I got it (and I still love it.)

definitely food for thought.

I don't think I'd move forward on this trade.
You really need to know what to 'look for' when you're talking vintage.

Root beers are a mistake of the late 70s abd early 80s. Color scheme is ugly at least to me.

Considering a trade: 116610LV for 16753 Root Beer

Root Beer is a polarizing watch. Right up there with the Milgauss GV and Turnograph imo.

I passed on a non-nipple version on jubilee at a HODINKEE pop up shop several years ago...regret it a little.

You can Always get another Hulk. To me, that is a novelty watch as well - but not hard to get in the US.

I say go for it.

If that's what you like, go for it. I doubt you'll find any good reasons why you shouldn't beyond personal taste. 116610LVs will always be available, so no reason to not go after a specific vintage model that you say looks and feels good to you. Older GMTs on Jubilees are super-comfortable, there's no arguing with that, and root beer GMTs with nipple dials aren't going to suddenly plunge in value. The LV isn't going to suddenly rise.

Happy hunting!

I'm relatively new to the world of Rolex and am learning a lot about what appear to be the consensus picks among enthusiasts and collectors. Curiously enough, the Milgaus and Turnograph (Thunderbird I believe?) are two models I quite like (I've been very close to pulling a trigger on a Turnograph several times!

My lust for the Root Beer is based solely on pictures and research as I've begun developing an appreciation for vintage models, though I've never seen one of these in the wild. I won't pull the trigger until I have gotten hands-on with one but it's been helpful to get the opinions from all of you!

Very few with root beer on their wrist. Not a common watch.

Do you wear the LV often? While I am not a fan of the root beer, it will wear completely differently. The LV is extremely comfortable and I have read that people have a hard time adjusting to the older bracelet. I guess as long as you love the root beer, and how it feels on wrist, go for it. You will be able to pick up an LV if you miss it too much.
