so i want to trade-up my sub , and i walked into a tourneau store

And the sell person was so aggresive and he kept on insisting that my 3,500 credit from the rolex sub (purchased o4 ,f series) would have been a generous amount and should be used towards the purchase of a new tourneau certified chronometer watch with alligator strap and that in his opinion, it was definately and upgrade . What gives? I mean up until sunday I had never heard of that watch brand in my life.

Is it worth it ?
Please help.

Keep your sub. Definitely worth more. And you would absolutely regret a "trade up" to a Tourneau.

He's simply trying to do what salespeople do and that is to sell you something that you don't want and to make as much money for the company and himself in return.

Doesnt sound like a good deal. In general, I wouldn't trade my Rolex for anything. Its a keeper for life.

Sidenote: Hey Steven, looks like you are going to hit lucky 888 post!

Always sell privately, and Tourneau is booboo.

Can you trade up a Sub?

Your F-serial Sub is worth maybe a bit more than $3500, but I wouldn't go near their house brand. I just looked up completed listings for Tourneau watches on the 'bay, and they are garbage. They have NO resale value.

If you are jonesing for a nice watch, go buy an Omega, but keep the Rolex.

So do you know what you want to trade your sub for? Define that first before you even walk into a store otherwise you will be easy prey for a sales person.

As others have stated you will always do better selling your sub on the private market and then buying what you want.

Tourneau is one of the worst stores out there IMHO; and as to their house brand watches I would not touch one with a 10 foot pole.

I can only imagine how much that house brand watch cost if they are giving you 3.5k in credit.... and what do you get for that? A contract made watch most likely containing a generic movement that in 6 weeks, 6 months, 6 years or 2 decades will not have even half the collector appeal or re-sale value that your rolex will. If you totally love the Tourneau watch and there is nothing similar from another source and you think it represents reasonable value for you then by all means go for it, otherwise I'd stay away, far, far away.

I traded my 14060m for a sub date back in 2006. I got 2700 for the sub which is a 100 dollars less than I paid for it. I had to throw in $1911 on the trade

Not a bad deal; I did not have time to sell my watch and did not feel like dealing with the tire kickers.... I probably could have gotten another 500 off a sub if I had looked elsewhere...

They are not bad folks there. Frankly the sales manager at the King of Prussia store could not have been more accomodating to me when I was buying my Panerai..... Buyer beware definitely applies in any Tourneau.

Yea forget them I went into the one in Waikiki. They had a used white dial SS Daytone for sale for $16,000. Whatever. What a joke!

They offered me 13,000 trade in on my Day Date, but only if I paid full price for a Daytona that I wanted. No discount.

I am just not impressed with Torneau (the store, or the brand). I have been in several of their locations. Personally, I would definitely not do this trade and I would not buy their branded watch.

it's funny how Torneau got cute and decided tomake their own watch. I had a guy walk in with a Torneau watch and ask if I could fix it since Torneau had originally refinished it for him with some of the worst satin finish I've ever seen. The quality of the watch was not impressive, at all.

Tourneau is trying to 'rip you off'. They will resell that Sub for close to $5k and you are stuck with with something 'less than a Rolex',
