Icon10 Calling All Flippers!!!

Hi, are you a Flipper? How many watches already flipped? Why you flipped your Rolex? For buy another model? Or you're really Natural Born Flipper (like JJ)?

This is my "former" Rolex:
1. I flip my PAM 112 H (my first prof watch) serial for bought Explorer II white dial D serial.
2. I flip my GMT Master 1675 (Pepsi) for bought a brand new LV.
3. I flip my Explorer II () for bought a brand new Sub ND COSC.
4. I flip my Subdate Y serial for bought a brand new 111.
5. I flip my Milgauss white dial M serial (bought in August 17) for bought a brand new 183 (in October 3)

Well..., I don't know I'm "Natural Born Flipper" or not. Are you a Flipper? Can you tell here how many watches already flipped? Please really your reply here. Thanks Guys!!!

The Flipper, TR.

Flipped seven so far (soon to be eight or nine), but only to fund other watches. Most were GMT's, with one Sub and ExpII.

I do what I call preflipping. I agonize over a watch in my head for months. If I want it long enough, not changing my mind, I get it. If I lose interest in the watch or think about another more, it must not have been meant to be.

Watches I thought I wanted and preflipped without buying:
Airking blue face
Expy II white
SS/Pt YM
Pam 183
Pam 210

My horological model is to never flip and expensive watch. I'll end up with more that way I hope! You never know however. There may be a model that comes up to me one day that will cause me to flip for real.

Ones I'm pondering to purchase:
Pam 000 - logo 2 hander
Pam 001 - painted 3 hander
Pam 111 - sandwich 3 hander
Fifty Fathoms (dreaming...)
SS Daytona white (want to try one on and see what the hype is about)

The quickest I ever bought a watch without thinking about it.
Seconds, the GMT IIc. Didn't think I liked the polish based off of pictures I saw. Then I saw it in the metal, and bought it on the spot!!!!
I'll never flip it (I hope )

I have never 'flipped'. I have sold a 16750 and 2 Datejusts before, but initially purchased these to own, without the intention of flipping.

I've flipped 2 Daytona’s, 3 Milgauss, and a DSSD. I'm not going to flip again for a while, the economy and the sudden abundance of rare models have cut into profits so no real reason to flip unless I wanted to own one of these watches and frankly I don't.

I'm not a fan of the Daytona, I mean I like it but I don't love it. The Milgauss is a sharp retro look and I think it's cool, but not $6500 cool.

My first Rolex will likely be my last, a 16613 and I won't be flipping it unless the updated subs blow me away, we shall see

TR, I think you're just waiting for Rolex and Panerai to merge into Rolerai or Panlex!

I think the term "Flipping" has been used incorrectly in many instances. To me, flipping is the act of buying a watch for the sole purpose of turning around and putting it up for sale w/ the hopes of making a quick $.

If you buy a watch, wear it for a period of time (be it a few weeks, months or years) and then decide it's not for you (or you want to free up some funds to purchase another example...or your damn wife won't let you buy any more until some inventory is 'cleared out') then I wouldn't consider it flipping - it then just becomes buying & selling. Same term applies for auto's & homes...there is a big difference between buying/selling cars & houses as opposed to "Flipping" auto's & homes IMO.

Yes, I am a flipper. Started with a Pepsi GMT Master, flipped to a stainless steel Sub date, then flipped for another one, flipped it for a Breitling Emergency, then flipped that for a SD. I'm a one-watch guy.

I just flipped a M Daytona and Z GMT IIC for a brand new M DSSD and brand new Pam 297K GMT with some cash. Before that, I flipped a Pam 161 GMT and a Pam 111 for the Daytona. Also a Pam 196 Daylight got me that GMT II C. So yes, when I get bored I flip.

That's pretty much me, too.

I keep my watches for awhile and once I get bored, I flip.

Traded my LV for GMT IIc, but that was only because got a great price on the LV and always really wanted the IIc, just couldn't afford it. Not a flipper though. I keep my watches.

Now, golf clubs, that's a completely different story

Way too many...3 Rolex, 1 IWC, 1 Ulysse Nardin, 2 Breitlings and now full circle back to a GMT IIc. I'm done...well at least until I retire in a couple of years. Then I'm doing the last flip to my retirement watch - a DD in yellow

Just curious,

Have most of you held watches long enough to make a profit, or at least break even? Or have you lost. I've heard more than one person say they never lost money on a Rolex, but I am certain it depends on what you have and how long you hold it.
