BLNR and LVc. What's next?
Hi all,
I am thinking about picking up another Rolex within the next couple months. I already have the BLNR and LVc and would like some of your opinions on 4 watches that I have had my eye on for a while. 1) 116622 Yachtmaster Blue dial 2) 116613lb 3) 214270 Explorer 1 4) 116520/500 Daytona I love both the blue dials hence I can't decide which one and price point they're both similar. The explorer is simple, classic and doesn't detect much attention and a Daytona because i love how it wear smaller and the looks of it but am I don't want to pay the premium. I would be getting rid of my Tudor black bay black to fund the purchase. Here are some wrist shots of my 2 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Awesome pair you have! Personally, I would go with a bluesy 116613LB.

#1 and #2 you gotta buy used, they both plummet in value, the TT more than anything.
That said, both gorgeous. Daytona though... if it's for you, it's a true classic Rolex. I love them but can't tell the time on the white face, waiting for the budget to allow a 116509 blue.

Daytona is awesome but now is not the time to buy one unless it is just a total obsession and obviously it is not since you gave other options.
I would go with the Explorer but pre-owned, I do enjoy the heck out of mine. I have owned a Yachtmaster but the platinum dial variety, the blue dial is striking but I had a quick love affair with mine before it became a Bluesy. The Bluesy I really miss! |

There are no bad choices among the list you have provided. All good choices I would say.
LB is an all time favorite of mine, and if you like to have a TT, that would be my suggestion. Explorer is a beautiful watch, and a great choice for everyday watch. My wife has the 214270 WG but that is not getting much wrist time (almost none) as she enjoys her white Daytona 116520 a lot.

I like your choices in general, out of the list I'd favor the Daytona. But the blue dialed 116622 and the simple classic Exp I are strong candidates also for your collection. If you're talking about diversity though I think Daytona would be @ the top of the list...then the Exp I.
P.S. Take it from someone that's collected rather quickly in the last year......take it slow and enjoy the watches, there's no hurry. |

White 116500! Added variety with a white dial, chrono and no date. 214270 gets my second place vote.

From your list, I would go bluesy first and then add the Daytona somewhere down the line when (hopefully) prices/availability settle somewhat.

The two you already have are difficult to get watches. By getting a 500 or 520, all three would have a common link. That's one way to look at it.
Another way would be buy the one that shouts loudest at you. Have you considered a vintage explorer? Check out the 1991 14270 blackout dial. Nice and rare, so in keeping-ish with your BM & Hulk. I picked one up two weeks back, and it's beautiful. Regards |

I would like to suggest you to see the yachtmaster dark rhodium ( grey ) in person .. you will have the perfect collection
(Green + blue + grey ) also the blue dial is good choice but in your case the Daytona is better in my opinion.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hi Peter, it probably would be easier to navigate and maybe get a better response if you had created a poll. Nonetheless to throw things in the mix since you like blue dials, how about the Milgauss Z-Blue Edition? And if somebody ccould explain the Z-Blue name.

Tough choice! The sub lb to me is the most beautiful, but as you have a sub, I’d maybe choose the ym. I actually really like the rhodium dial ym too.
The exp1 would be a great choice as a stealthier option. |

D500 White Dial - that plus these two are (IMO) the holy trinity of sports Rolexes!

Judging by your current collection, it's easy to see that you are a man that enjoys some color in your collection. I think the LB would be the perfect addition, adding in that beautiful blue sunburst dial as well as a little flare with the two-tone. It would further diversify your already beautiful collection. If your not much for two tone, then my second vote would be for the blue Yachtmaster. There's not a prettier dial in the lineup than the blue sunburst.

That Exp I looks awesome. That would be my choice for now, and put your name on a list for the Daytona and see what happens.
