CLEAN Thread - Pic request: the venerable Day date!!

Hi everyone,

I was really looking forward to the stream of great classic DD pics in a previous unmentionable thread. Unfortunately, the topic got out of hand and the thread became a disaster. Let's try to keep it clean on this one (well, except for you, JJ!)

Anyway, please post your Day-Date pics. I was REALLY impressed by John's black dial YG DD picture...so tantalizing!! I am sure others have great updated pics, too, so let's see them!! Oh, and DD-II is also welcome

Sorry, I couldn't resist

Almost picked up a Day Date about a month ago, great price too...

Just not sure where the economy is headed right now, didn't seem prudent...

Blingy 18k Bark finish DD, great 30th from my CEO

Here's mine from 1984; a little too much right now for my lifestyle.
Ahora estoy muy tranquilo.

Actually now considering plat DD Pres, if only it had a fluted bezel or white dial with sticks 18kt yellow gold Pres. with fluted bezel. Love the classic Pres and I'll pass on the newer look DDII for now.

Beautiful watches.

Probably one of THE greatest watches in the world!

What is the usual depreciation on a DD when purchased preloved???????????

I am but a callow youth still....as you can tell by my immature ramblings no doubt!!!!!

The Day Date is a magnificent timepiece but one I have always overlooked as the MRSP is astronomical when compared to my poor Architectural wage!!!!!

However if one could be available preloved at a price comparable to say a new TT sub or GMTIIC, I might start thinking about one in the future.

Congrats to all who wear them, they are beautiful and may you all wear them in the best of health!

Jim,
A nice one with bracelet and quickset can be had for as little as 5K (I use little lightly!) and on a strap non quickset for around 3K for a nice one. Hope this helps

You can get one of the newer ones with newest clasp style for about 10k - very reasonable for solid gold

or 20k for platinum

I first saw the white faced roman numeral DD years ago and it made an indulible impression and mark upstairs.

It was goal of mine to splurge someday and get that watch.

I guess when you've got most everything else and are comfortable financially in life you can justify this extravagant purchase.

It does OPEN doors everytime wear it, especially when looking at exotic cars.

The keys are literally thrown at me to take test drives.

I have to chuckle at how shallow people are. Two years ago if I had walked into a Lambo or Ferrari Dealership with a G-Shock on forget it, I d never get the opportunity to take a car out by myself unless I pushed the issue.

For now I am enjoying the moment.

You need to pick a year - the bracelet changed around 2000 to a heavier item and you can see the difference in the pic where the end links meet the case.

Mine is a 1991 'N' with white dial and romans - note that my romans are not upside down between 4 and 8 - most dials are. You should be able to pick up one like mine for around US$8K - $10K depending on condition, bracelet stretch, service history etc. They are a nice watch to wear.
