1976 Tudor Snowflake Blue or 1979 Rolex Submariner 1680
Hi everyone,
This is my first post on this addictive forum. I am debating which watch to purchase. I love the history of both watches but was wondering which one will hold its value in the long run. Thank you all for your comments. |

Personally I would go Tudor but I have one and love it. More exclusive than the Rolex but I guess the Rolex ultimately will be worth more long term

I'd probably go talk to the vintage forum about it, although no one can predict the future value of these watches. Have we just scratched the surface of skyrocketing prices? Have we peaked? Who knows? Just buy what you like.

I really like the snowflake. If it was a red 1680 I would be swayed the other way.

Rolex 1680 is $8000 and the Tudor Blue snowflake is $8500. Would i be paying too much on any of these two? Need advice. Thanks again to all.

Is $8k a bit too much for a 1680 or normally priced?

Hi and welcome, best way to find out is to try both and then decide on how you feel about them.

Your question is hard to answer (in terms of value) IMO. The 1680 has recently shot up (rightfully so, I always felt it was undervalued) but the Tudor Snowflakes have been very strong also (also correctly so, hard to find a nice dial with lume complete on the hands and dial due to the large areas the snowflakes occupy). I personally think the Snowflake is definitely more unique but the 1680 is the iconic Rolex diver look IMO.

I think tudors will become more valuable over the long term, but it is more niche and more catered towards more hardcore collectors!
