Yacht-Master Bezel Concerns 16628

Hi, I'm new to the forums and hopefully you can help me out.

I'm a little concerned about the longevity of the full gold 16628 bezel. I'm seeing a few listings where the bezel looks like It's been polished poorly or damaged. Is this easy to damage the bezel on the gold model... or is it more the platinum versionS?

Bonus questions: does anybody know if the gold yacht-master has full gold links or hallow? And what is the weight of this watch?

Looking into this potential option as my first Rolex since it seems to be good value for a relatively modern full gold piece.

Thank you in advance

Gold is softer than platinum.

the gold 16628 (and TT) uses hollow links which is a somewhat interesting juxtaposition against the 16622 as it was one of the first rolexes to have a solid bracelet. In terms of gold/platinum bezel it is hard to polish and expensive to replace, make sure it is never polished and just enjoy the scratches and you'll be happy with the ym.

Will the bezel always look good if i don't polish it?

Also, is there any 16628 with full gold links? I like the weight of a heavy watch and having more gold is always good.

My 16628 has solid links though I'm not sure about the really early ones. Still no marks on the bezel so I conclude that the beat up ones have been used as beaters. Be gentle, it's gold!

You think the whole band on your 16628 is solid, not just the end links? I was under the impression that didn't occur until the six digit model.

If you are worried about the bezel always looking good, I think you might want to check out the ceramic/gold/oysterflex yachtmaster. The gold/platinum bezels you have to enjoy the patina. If you polish them poorly they look terrible.

Would Rolex be able to polish/sandblast the watch like in the video?

Thanks
