Superocean Heritage II or Superocean II 42mm?

I am looking to get my first Breitling. I have always bought Rolex. I am looking at the above two models with the blue face. Of those who have them, which do you recommend and why? Thx :)

I have the heritage II with brown face. I never liked Breitling because I thought they were too flashy. When I saw that simple elegant dial I knew I had to have the heritage.

Do not make your decision sight unseen. I was 100% convinced that I would love the blue 46mm Super Ocean Heritage II, that I almost acquired one here from a trusted seller without so much as even trying one on. I talked some sense into myself and headed to the AD for a test run. Turns out, I much preferred the 42mm size, and as much as I thought I'd love the shark mesh bracelet, I actually preferred the strap (I do think I would come to like the bracelet eventually, but it is quite different aesthetically from my oyster bracelets... I just think it would take some time to get used to). This watch is still on my radar and I still hope to acquire one, but I have a few other models that I am mulling around as well - haven't been able to make up my mind!

SOHII 42mm. Just a very classy looking piece. Get it on the bracelet and swap in an aftermarket strap or two.

I don't like the numbers on the Superocean, so the Superocean Heritage gets my vote, but try one first. The black one looks great in pictures and I convinced myself I needed one, but in person at the boutique I found it boring. The blue version really pops though and is definitely the pick of the bunch (in my opinion).

I have a blue SOHII on order from my AD for $3,500 out the door. This is on the mesh bracelet. I've been looking for one via a trusted seller for months, but am yet to see one pop up, or if one does come up, it's the wrong color.

That sounds like a nice price from a dealer. I’m considering the brown model on a brown leather strap with the deployant clasp. I just recently ventured away from Rolex. I still have my rolexes, but I’m adding a few nonrolex watches to the stable. I really don’t know what kind of deals to look for. I’m glad to have some starting point.

Owned both at one point in time, they became too big / bulky for me as I transitioned into smaller watches.

Just make sure you like the size and if you were shirts a lot, that they fit under the cuff, they're both great watches.

That’s a good point, I’m looking at the 42 so I’d imagine it will be similar in size to my explorer ii 42mm.

I think it's a fair price as well. I'm a bigger guy (6'4" 250 with 8" wrist) and thought for sure I'd like the 46mm, but after trying on both, I opted for the 42mm. Nothing felt clunky about it - very well balanced IMHO.

I opted for the 42mm SOHII.
Size wise, wears pretty much like my Bluesy.
46 way too much for me.

In a Rolex forum, will probably be whipped for it but frankly, as much as I love my Bluesy Sub, for one third the price, the SOHII is an amazing watch.
New in house movement collaboration with Tudor. Stunning looking in person.

I was at a local pizzeria this past week and a guy at the next table asked me what kind of Breitling was I wearing. Recognized the SS band as Breitling but didn’t know the reference. Complimented me on how stunning it looked.
That’s happened now about three times, equal or more than anyone ever noticing my Bluesy, which I have owned for nearly two years more.

To each his own, I fell in love with Super Ocean II as soon as I saw it. The Arabic numerals, the sun burst blue dial, the 12/24 hour markers and the rubber strap for a price that does not break the bank for those who are in this game of collecting luxury watches. A Rolex with all those features is going to be at least 3 times more. SOHII is nice but does not look as ultra sport as it’s cousin.

I had the SOH46 for 4 years on a 7in /18cm. Felt overbearing in the end among others niggles. You need to try one for comfort before you buy. The lugs can be very painful on large wrists due to their pointy shape like darts.

I halve a tudor with no crown guards, so SO 42 (no heritage) added variety with crown guards, plus the rubber bezel.

The movement in the SuperOcean Heritage II is the tudor movement that Breitling has modified and is considered "in-house". The movement in the Superocean line are modified ETA's and are not in house movements. The difference between the two is that in house comes with a five year warrant while the non in house movements come with only a two year warranty!
