Rolex Daytona 116500 or Daytona 116515???
Hi All,
I have received the final call from my AD that in matter of days I will received my Daytona 116500 black dial. However, I have been always amazed with the Daytona 116515 (that chocolate dial) and now I wonder if it will be a good idea to flip the 116500 for a 116151? Would you guys do that or will just keep the 116500? Thanks in advance, Rodrigo |

I'd rather have a D500. The only Daytona I'd flip one for would be an all gold version...and I've been thinking of doing just that.

Daytona 500
Live with it a while, your gains will still be there. You should be sure as it’s hard to land a D5 |

Unless you find the leather (or rubber) strap more comfortable than the bracelet, I definitely prefer 116500, although they are both very nice. Congrats and good luck with your decision!

I'm wondering if I'm a little off lately. I had an AD call me and offer me the Black Daytona a week ago but asked me not to flip it. I recently purchased a Patek 5712 and absolutely love it. I do have a TT black Daytona and a SS black Daytona (not C). I told him I'll pass and wait for the white. What is wrong with me???????

I think the 500 without a doubt. If you like the Oysterflex look, just put it on rubber. Both dials look really good on rubber. That said the white gold Oysterflex is my favorite of the 3 released last year. It's really a stunning watch in person. I still prefer PM Daytonas on metal bracelets. I really love the pink dial 116505. Really good looking watch imo. The yellow gold with black "Paul Newman" dial is also pretty cool. I just love Daytonas with solid color subdials.

They are different watches... 116500 is an everyday watch. 116515 to me is more like a dress watch. I would buy both!

I have the 116515 w/ chocolate dial on croc strap. Also have a 116520. The 520 is fantastic, but in person it can't hold a candle to the 115. Haven't seen a 500 in person, but expect it'd be the same outcome (for me). Can dress up or down.... wear it with jeans as well as suits. It looks great w/ both.
Btw, some believe a PM watch will scratch more easily (mentioned in other threads..). I've not found that to be true. I've whacked mine hard a few times and not a single scratch. The clasp shows no signs of desk diving either. The SS has a lot more scratches on the clasp.

As I said on another thread, with the premiums on the SS just now fliping one is a cheap way into a PM Daytona. I had the RG/chocolate arabic and it was a great watch. I'd probably go WG/panda next time if I was getting another. Tried a black dial D500 and really liked it (much prefer it to the white). But not enough to want one, so I'd make that flip/trade.

I’m going to go against the grain and say yes. The price of a secondary 116500 is pretty close to a used 116515. I think the chocolate dial is too busy so I would trade it for a black or ivory dial 116515 because I have a BLNR and the 116515 fills the PM void. I sold a white dial and black dial 116500 with the intent on purchasing a 116515.

I would trade the D500 towards a RG or WG for sure, these watches are in different leagues, hype aside.
