Banged up cases

I've seen pictures here of people who have banged or dinged up cases. How is it that this does not effect the time keeping properties of the timepiece? The case is strong enough to withstand a bump that is hard enough to make a dent?

Yep, the movement is plenty strong. Believe it or not but Rolex watches are built to withstand the rigors of daily life, and scratches and hard dings are just apart of wearing your watch.

My persons has seen dimples in cases from banging the case into something (door, wall, etc). I find it remarkable that the case is strong enough to take such a harsh blow and protect the movement.

Not sure if a Patek could take such a hit and keep on ticking.

I wear my PP nearly everyday & so unfortunately I have caught it once or twice and had no problems.

Though I would agree that apart from the Nautilus or aquanaut range a PP has not got the sturdiness of a Rolex case.

Think of the one-piece Oyster case as the safety cage of a car chassis, the design is such to protect thing(s) inside the case/cage by absorbing/redirecting impact energy to the outside of the case/cage.

you smokem.

Have you considered some sort of protective device for your rolex. Like a cast or you could cut a tennis ball in half and some how tape it around your wrist over your watch. You could wear it when you are around walls and things you might bang into.

Post pictures if you are going to use a protective device. I am looking into one as well..

I'm working on a modified grapefruit skin as we speak for both it's protective case like properties as well as it's pleasant aroma. Thx for the suggestion old chap.
