Band size??

Can anyone tell me if the TT Datejust ever had a bigger band width near the clasp than the ones now. I noticed a TT watch today and it had a seemingly bigger band all round. The watch looked like a Datejust but I thought there was something under the Rolex Crown insignia on the clasp, like a small inscription or something. The band had a lot of strech so I guessed it was original. Any thoughts.

Rolex is pretty careful in this area in order to be able to keep AD's from having to carry too many spare parts.. I don't think that the DJ had a different clasp width..

Almost all Rolex bracelets are the same size at the clasp and clasp/bracelet junctions.

Even the new, wider, DSSD bracelets at 22mm lug width taper down to the same size at the clasp..
