Welcome to the Forum kk..

The watch you are looking at has an aftermarket dial, bezel, and bracelet..

In other words, there is very little left except the movement and case that is original... and since they state that they serviced the watch, there may be non-Rolex parts inside.. (A service is not a 500 dollar value unless it is performed at an authorized Service Center..)

As such, I do not think that it is a very good buy because originality is really where the value of a Rolex is..

That being said, if you do like the look of the diamond bezels and dials, then the price is probably market based.

What he said... Not unlike vintage cars, furniture and other collectables, finding examples that are in original condition w/no modifications enhances the value and collectability by a huge margin. To cite an example, an antique piece of furniture with original finish (regardless of what shape it's in) is always preferred over a refinished one. Despite good intentions, anything not original will affect the value dramatically. I'd keep looking...

If you are really interested in buying this watch, both the first and the
second price that they are asking is too high.
If you will be happy with this type of a watch,
I would buy a brand new stainless steel Rolex model 179160 Date-Just
for around $3,900
and then add the after market Mother of Pearl diamond
dial for $250 and then a great looking diamond bezel for $600
Total for a brand new watch $4,650...Good for 30 years minimum!!
The jeweler is using the word vintage, instead of "old banger",
from the time when my grand mother was at high school...?

Lame deal, I have a TT Ladies datejust (w/ tt jubilee bracelet) all authentic, all original for $1,800 (mine was just serviced as well).

The one you are looking at on "perpetual diamonds" has an aftermarket dial, bezel and bracelet (New stainless steel Italian oyster bracelet set by our master watchmakers 6.5 inches / Can be resized. )
