My Panerai journey in a year...
So my obsessions with Panerai began in 2017 (late comer.. I know) I got interested in Panerai last year when I walked into a an AD and checked out the various panerai collections. Did my newb research and decided my first Panerai would be the 560. (Not the sandwich one) Then got the 564 because i wanted to see the seconds hand moving on the dial. Then proceeded with the 1305 because i wanted something more casual and something I take to go swimming in.
As the year progressed and I read more about Panerai and what makes them special, the 564 started to look too smilar to the 560 and I sold it (at a loss of course, but expected to fund for a Rolex BLNR (2015 year 2nd hand). It wasn't long before i was looking for a Panerai GMT watch and the 1320 caught my eye. Took the plunge and got the 1320. Few months later... the more I looked at the 233, the more i realized that would be my Grail Panerai watch. I kept holding back from getting the 233 because the 1320 was already a GMT... but the 8 days reserve, the indicators.... the weight...the manual wind, everything seemed like it was a nicer option than the 1320. The more i looked at the 1320 the more the blue second hand felt out of place. So finally sold the 1320 along with a Tudor BB (both at a loss again.. ) to fund for a new Panerai 233. At this moment, my panerai journey is complete. This is all within a years time. So like everyone, i learned what I really wanted in a watch and that no matter the financial loss resulted from the sells, I did enjoy the watches while they were on my wrist. In the end, its all part of the process. All the watches that I wear bring a smile to my face and that's all that matters. =) |

I started with the 233, so I missed out on all your fun. I've tried to find a better one, but so far no luck. A few temptations, but none that supplant it.

Great post! Congrats...it took me about 6 years and 5 different models to finally end up with a 233 which I absolutely love and rarely take off. That said, I feel I need to own at least 3 (possibly 4), which all serve different purposes to some degree, yet compliment each other as part of my collection. The search is on....the struggle is real! :)
