Advice on buying Rolex in Spain

Hi all,

I’m new to this forum but definitely not new to Rolex. So i’m planning to get my first Rolex here in Barcelona and I’ve been told the tax refund is 18% when I claim it back from the global blue office at the airport. However upon checking the global blue official site calculator, it’s showing only 15.7% for a €10k purchase. So if any of you have done this can you please share your experience?
Thanks in advance!

Wouldn’t surprise me if there’s fees involved somewhere along the line.

Bought one in Madrid last year - keep all your receipts. Before you check in at the airport, there's a place to get your VAT back - if you get it back in cash right there, there's a small fee - I think it's nominal. If you paid via credit card then you can get the money put back on your credit card within a few weeks time - still a small fee, but I think less. Hope that helps

same with me in Italy, VAT is 20% and received about 15-16% back, rest was in fee's

i decided to get cash back, i didn't want to wait for a VAT refund for $12-$1300, i've had VAT forms lost in the mail before and i never received my VAT refund.

If you have to send the form off, i'd get a cash refund, if there is an agent at the window and going to refund your card on a machine, in front of you, i'd take the CC refund

I guess the fee is pretty big. Just read yesterday that Global Blue is aiming for an ipo on the
Amsterdam stock exchange. While hq is in Swiss...

Make sure you get refunded on CC, if cash you'll need to change Euros back to your home currency at one of the exchange booths and they are a rip off!

Yes I'd definitely get the CC refund. Just not sure how soon can i get it back to my CC. I know it's the best rate but the set back is the duration.
