Do you prefer a smooth or fluted bezel?

I have a fluted bezel, it’s a universal design cue of Rolex, but the smooth bezel looks great too. On the DJ41 I prefer smooth

I have a DJII with blue stick dial and smooth bezel. I would also like to buy a new DJ41 with Rhodium dial and Jubilee bracelet. I think I will have most DJ bases covered then.
I need both. I would probably have to say smooth bezel edged it on the DJII for me which is why I bought it first. On the DJ41 I prefer the jubilee and fluted combo Sent from my SM-N920C using Tapatalk

I suspect I am going to be in the minority here, but I prefer the smooth bezel.
The smooth bezel makes the watch a little more 'under the radar' and doesn't scream 'Rolex' the way a fluted bezel tends to. Plus, I think it makes the watch more versatile since it provides it a more sporty look. But that's just my personal preference. No wrong answer here. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

After having both I prefer the smooth bezel because it's not so loud...

Fluted and jubilee to avoid seeing the usual visible hairline scratch. DJ = fluted and jubilee

Fluted. There are some other really great options that only have smooth bezel so i would go with one of them for smooth.

There are so many variations of DJ that it really depends on the dial, the bracelet and the size.
If we’re talking the classic DJ36, then flutted jubilee |

Agreed. I kept my WG fluted bezel DJ and sold my plain bezel DJ. My rotation includes a 36mm WG fluted Datejust with Oyster bracelet with polished center links (an classic Rolex with a bit of sparkle) and a recently acquired 39mm Explorer (a wonderful, all-purpose, stealth Rolex).

I'll go against the grain ... definitely smooth, if you're referring to the DJ 41.
The fluted is so, so blingy. I tried one on the other day at the AD and I felt like had a disco ball on my wrist, the way it catches the light and because the watch is much bigger than the classic 36mm DJ. The smooth bezel is much more under understated and cooler, IMHO. I especially like the smooth with the Jubilee. |

I am in agreement. I chose the smooth bezel / oyster bracelet in my Rhodium DJ41 because it’s a bit more versatile on the casual side, still looks great dressed up. This is currently my one and only “nice” watch (and my daily driver). The fluted bezel is an amazing thing - so gorgeous. It’s just shiny which makes it fancy which makes it more formal. Same with the jubilee. Yes it can be worn with casual but the smooth/oyster does it more easily. So I think it depends not so much on the watch (many agree that both look great) but on how you will wear it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I went with smooth bezel/jubilee bracelet.
But then, I'm a rule breaker. |

Fluted on oyster for me...nothing wrong with a bit of bling, although Rose gold is slightly more subtle than the yellow.

I have a fluted Datejust 41 on a Jubilee bracelet. I think the fluted bezel is a defining characteristic of the Datejust, however I think going smooth bezel/Oyster bracelet if you plan on using the Datejust as an everyday piece. The smooth bezel/Oyster bracelet is a great multipurpose, one and only, everyday piece. I think the fluted bezel/Jubiless bracelet is perfect if you are looking for contrast in your collection or want a dressy option.
