How do they get away with it?

I'm talking about the con-artists on E-bay selling "Genuine" Rolex Watches!? I actually like E-bay, and have purchased lots of items off there, almost all I have been a satisfied customer. I've never (and never will) purchase a Rolex from E-bay, that's just my choice, maybe there are good deals to be had but I prefer to purchase either from TRF or an AD. But back to my point, right now, there is some seller in Canada selling TWO (2) "Rolex" watches for.... ready for this incredible price? $999. The pictures are not very close or clear, what a suprise, but how can some schister get away with advertising fakes? Some poor gullible kid might become his next victim. It really pisses me off!!!!!

Yes I feel the same way too. Makes me want to post a warning sign somewhere when I see such ads. Fortunately I think the majority of Ebayers are smart enough to spot a fake when they see it and stay clear. Then again, all it takes is one in a million falling for the scam..

I am unsure how E-Bay is managed from a Global view but here in the UK, E-Bay have moved there Registered Office to Luxemburg in an attempt to reduce the amount of legal actions being levelled against them.

Both myself and many of my friends and co-workers have bought various articles from E-Bay over the years (I got a lovely GMT2 a few months back) but I knew the guy who was selling it. However I do feel that they (E-bay) have not been pro-active enough to root-out the individuals who are flouting the many Copy-write and other laws with relative impunity.

The move to Luxemburg really sums-up their "Corporate Ideal" to me.

Hi Paul....there are a lot of scammers on ebay..and there are a lot of Good sellers too...Ebay can only monitor certain items everyday with almost 3 million views a day its going to be hard for them to figure it out whos selling who...most of the time they live it to paypal..thats why paypal covers the entire watch amount incase of fraud..check for eligibility..in this way people dont have to worry about their money...Its a safe way of doing business on ebay...
