Where is the demand for 126711CHNR TT Rootbeer?

My AD in Scarsdale, NY which is 20 miles from NYC has had the TT Rootbeer GMT sitting in the case each of the 4 times I’ve visited in the past 2 months (buying and servicing a few watches). The sport case is still otherwise sparse as expected. I feel like our proximity to NYC makes these kinds of pieces always Out Of Stock.

This is beautiful watch in the flesh! If I didn’t already buy 2 GMT (Rolex and Tudor) in the last couple weeks, I’d pick it up myself. Though, my next purchase may have to be the matching full size and mid size Rhodium Yachtmasters that they also have in stock, to appease the wife...ha.

AD owner told me that the watch has been sitting there for quite a while. Is the demand for these watches not what it seems on TRF?

interesting it is sitting that long in AD, the grey market is still asking premium for it.

with the grey still having a small mark up on these I thought they are sought after. Your AD has 2? are they willing to do a small discount to offset the tax?

Wish my DE ad had these.

The two tone watches were “in style” in the 80’s and 90’s and then fell off as we moved into the 2000’s. One can see that trend in wedding bands as well with ss/platinum becoming very common around 2000. I still like the two tone and owned a couple over the years.

look back a few years and history will tell you how it goes.

you are right, good eye, thought there is 2.

on another note, I think in this market the TT is the new SS, high traffic stores don't even have any TT sports in stock.

True.

However...with the steel models drying up, I do think we will see increased demand on TT and PM for that matter.

Happy to help....I grew up in the 1970s and LOVE TT watches......I think they get a bad wrap because they are in between SS and full PM.

I have seen some PM (non rolex) that are TT but 100% PM.......using 18kt wg and 18kt yellow gold instead of SS.....and they are beautiful....YG/RG looks great with any white metal......

Would love to see one of these with my own eyes, but my AD just laughed when I asked him if he had gotten any in.

What kind of discount will he offer?

I would seriously consider flying up to buy it, see family, eat some great pizza.
What is the incredibly high NY tax up to now?

As with any TT Rolex, prices will drop over time. Still riding the highs of Basel and the SS craze.

I called them two times about it a few weeks ago. They wouldn’t ship at all, wouldn’t even hold it for a few hours so I could drive up from MD and pick it up over the weekend, even though I offered to pay outright over the phone.

I thought about buying that watch. Went back twice. Decided not to. My wife didn’t think I’d wear it much. She’s probably right.

I think it's the TT that some people are put off by. The PM of the CHNR is a beaut.

The new edition TT GMT is stunningly beautiful.
I don't get it that somebody would actually prefer the BLNR or LN over this.

absolutely.

I kind of like it but its still TT, and TT is a niche. And my members only jacket from the 80's doesnt fit so i need to source one of those first.

Is he then offering a good discount on it? If not then he's probably sold one in between.

3 Rolex AD's near Chicago suburbs have had minimal supply and told me over 1+ year wait. Got mine from TRF. Happy with Root Beer TT, looks a lot better in person without jeweler lighting.

The color brown is the least desirable color....how many clothing items are brown? In 60’s-70’s, brown was very popular.

I think the color reflects the lower demand. Also TT models are the least desireable

Some guy a long time ago actually conned somebody into thinking they were buying the brooklyn bridge from him.

Surprising that the watch sat that long since it's still pretty hot, but it just shows what we've been saying all along. As nice as it is, it's still a TT and it will be available sooner rather than later.

At the end of the day it is still a TT Rolex. I wouldn’t buy one without a significant discount.

Sorry, folks. I should have posted earlier. It was sitting there every time I went into the store and thought, sheesh, why isn’t it selling? Very beautiful in person.
I’m sorry they wouldn’t hold it for the Maryland customer. I believe they are really trying to get the pieces into end user customer hands and so won’t ship or hold pieces.

Tax in Westchester county in NY is 7 percent.

Wilson and Sons is a Rolex/Tudor AD. Though they won’t discount, at least on high demand pieces, their customer service and professionalism is top notch. Also, none of this nonsense with holding warranty cards and such. In fact, I thought they didn’t give me the Rolex warranty card, but they then told me it’s in the hidden compartment in the top of the box...duh...

As for Tudor, they have stated they will do no waiting lists and will place pieces as they come into their display case. This is how I picked up at Tudor GMT. I believe they will do the same with the 58.
