I would say most Rolex dials are black, white and blue. But they also have some silver, champagne, brown, MOP, but they have very few green dials. I do think there is maybe only one green Datejust 36mm dial in one two-tone combination, but no 41mm dial and Datejust is probably the line with the largest choice of dials. The Oyster Perpetual have a green 34mm dial but no 36 or 39mm dial. You got Hulk and the GMT with the money dial, and a few Day-Dates, but that is about it. I find it a little strange considering that most will probably say that green is the color of Rolex, because of their green logo.

Any suggestions to why Rolex shy away from green, or maybe Rolex at some point gave a reason for why they do not make much green dials.

If we are doing shades of Green, there is also the Olive Green on the Day Date 40...which I think looks absolutely awesome when paired with rose gold.

Pretty solid coverage. Their deep diver has green gradient and green. Maybe not on the DJ's because you have a really strong blue / grey combos? Then the "wimbledon" dial.

I think any more and it would be too obvious. Like black / white / grey dials are the defaults. I quite like the green is reserved for the special pieces. Its closest equivalent is the blue dial. Solid blue which appeared on TT Sub now discontinued, of course WG Sub, YG Sub. So that colour way is very limited.

Was just looking at a thread about the 34mm OP, saw two in there with green dials, stunning, really a beautiful dial.

Think you're onto something, for me, a forest green dial, even a green that could capture the depth of the way Rolex does the old blue Submariner dial would be fantastic.

I was under the impression green was a special or anniversary color for rolex

I'm assuming they must do research on fashion trends and other criteria to determine what they will offer. Green can be striking but its probably a color that comes and goes. The black, blue, silvers, etc more easily transcend fashion trends.

Green is a very bright colour, and although we love it, IMO it is very bold for daily wear and it is a risk you get bored of it.

I really like the subdued olive green dial on the Day-Date 40. I'm not a fan of the bolder green featured on the Daytona, Submariner, and GMT-Master II. Rolex is smart enough to give us options.

It just has a smaller audience than other colors IMO.

I think it makes the ones that they do offer, feel more special to those who own them

Let me be bored with the LV. I have looked at my sub for half a Century and still love it. Having said that, the LV just blows my socks off. It is a real treat to wear it on special occasions.

I think the Oyster-Perpetual 34mm and Day-Date have the same Olive green color on the dial, but not sure. However I think it looks amazing and wish they would bump it up to the 36 and 39 mm oyster-perpetual and also to the same Datejust combos as the blue dial. I hope in the future we will see more green on different Rolex lines and in SS.

Green is my favorite color and I love anything in a watch with green, but it's simply not as mainstream as others like black, blue, white, silver. Just look at cars on the road in most places.

Love the green. I think it's kept exclusive to certain watches because it's the Rolex color...and it's meant to be exclusive in that sense/aka saved for special releases.

I think an Explorer I in a deep green would look amazing.

But the reality is green is quite a clashing colour... and it is my favourite colour and maybe one day I'll want to own a Hulk.. but I don't at the moment!
