I always loved the Sub but I dont like the all black bezel becuase I feel I cant wear it with brown shoes and sometimes I just wish it were more versatile. Then I came across the BLNR and wanted to hear your thoughts as to the Blue, is it gawdy? Does it work with casual attire like Jeans, how about suits? Anyone not like the blue, if so why?

Has anyone had one and then flipped it or sold it if so was the bezel the reason? Im just concerned that its too much, too bluey too blingy, kind of gimmicky

The Blue works with everything. It's my go to watch for business attire (suites, dress shirts, etc.) are called for.

Then again, my other two Rolex's are a Hulk and an SD43, so for me, it's the one that makes the most since for that type of wear.

For the longest time I never understood the half blue bezel. Seemed out of place to me, possible should have been all blue or something, can't really put my finger on it. Lately its been growing on me, also can't say why, maybe because its a really in demand watch. Either way this forum has almost a cult following for that watch, by my estimation its one of the most talked about watches on the forum.

I think you have to really like blue to really desire this watch. Blue is my favorite color so it was a no brainer for me. It absolutely can be worn for any occasion. It’s something different than the ubiquitous submariner. It has the pcls for a LITTLE bling, it is a Rolex after all. When I got it, I showed it to my boss, who wears a Patek Aquanaut, which I love, and he says now that is a fine looking watch. There is a reason why this one is so popular.

I wouldn't call the BLNR gawdy... If you were talking about the two-tone blue sub... I'd agree with you.

The BLNR is a great casual wear watch... one of the best. BLNR / Pepsi / Sky-Dweller are all fantastic wear and go with everything really.

If you can get your hands on one, go for it, you'll always be able to resell it if you do change your mind in the future :)

Watches are considered accessories and not actual part of wardrobe. So wear what ever. I feel my black sub looks great with anything, but do tend to wear my Daytona white dial with brown or my Hamilton with a khaki dial.

I’ve worn my blnr with a brown suit. I just turned the bezel so only the blue part peeked from under the cuff. Looked great. A great all a-rounder.

Great watch works with everything. I wear it primarily in the office.

IMHO the BLNR is still the nicest stainless watch that Rolex makes. Buy it. You won’t be sorry. I’ve had mine for almost 3 years and I rarely take it off.

I would say that's not strictly true. If your accessory game is on point they will be complimentary, that is different than matching. But your accessories will compliment your clothes.

Eg, wear black shiny shoes... wear a black shiny belt. Black leather watch / Black watch / complimentary neutral tone.

Brown leather shoes... brown leather belt, brown strap / complimentary tone.

Shiny brown... shiny belt etc etc etc you get the point.
Dull brown... dull brown belt... etc etc

With that said... this is a very traditional... like you said... I don't think it matters to the Everyman but if you want to be traditional it does bare some thought...

But probably not that much thought, just enjoy what you wear, life is short

The blue is not gawdy, period. That being said, it's also not for everyone. I can understand if some may think it's not an "office appropriate" watch - the same extent you could make the same argument (opinion really) about the LV or the new BLRO.

The BLNR has been my "daily beater" for the most part since I picked one up. I am usually in a suit/sport coat no tie most days at the office. I think it works fine for that as well as casual wear on the weekends. Even since picking up a white Daytona C, it still gets more wrist time on average (with exception to the first week I had the Daytona -- during that period it barely left my wrist while I was awake )

You really see the most of the blue when you're outside and the bezel is exposed to natural sunlight. Indoors it's toned down a bit but still obviously present. In evening under poorer lighting conditions (like a dimly lit restaurant or bar) you can barely tell it's a BLNR versus a standard LN.

As others have said, you kind of have to love the color blue to even consider adding this to your collection. Also the bi-color bezel actually makes sense (blue for sky/daylight hours and black for evening hours)!

First of all, this forum is certifiably BLNR-crazy, so you don't need to ask.

But, second...if you're that particular that you can't wear brown shoes with a black sub, I would hold off on adding a watch that the bezel is half blue.

It’s a fantastic watch. I recently took it along for a trip to Australia where it performed great with my business attire and even better while I was snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. You couldn’t ask for more versatility. It’s definitely the current favorite in my collection. And it goes with both my black shoes and my brown ones.

I have a SubC and an Expll polar. I'm thinking of adding a Blnr as well. It's been haunting me for awhile and would be a better fit in my collection over the LN

The blue is incredibly subtle because of the ceramic material. In bright sunlight it glows, but mostly it’s muted. At night, in low light, it looks black. It’s amazing. Go for it!

might be my favorite watch. IMO the most versatile and the best "one and only" ever made. Goes great with any outfit. That little tiny bit of blue makes the watch for me. I don't think there's anything wrong whatsoever with the LN, but the little sliver of blue keeps it fun enough for me to never get bored of the watch. Truly a special piece!

I’ll offer a differing view here. I owned the BLNR and although it’s a great reference with plenty of love here, I just never bonded with it.

I found that the blue just didn’t work for me and as crazy as it sounds, it was one of those pieces that looks better in photos than in real life ... at least to me.

As for wearing your watch with whatever ... I’d say pretty much any Rolex goes with anything
