Casual Rolex?
I知 looking for opinions, what is a good casual wear Rolex? I知 in shorts and a t shirt 75% of the time, and am wondering which is
more casual, an Explorer 1 or Submariner? I知 open to other suggestions as well. Thanks |

Of the 2, I’d choose a sub. However they’re both good for casual wear.
Dblue for me |

Get a 5 digit Explorer II.
I've had mine for 30 years and it's the perfect watch for shorts/jeans/t-shirt. |

I am in jeans and a polo right now, wearing my EII. I think the EI is also a good choice for casual. Consider an AirKing, as well!

It depends on what you want to do with it. Is it going to be a daily wear? Do you need to dress it up? Is it part of a collection you already have?
I would say both are casual. The Explorer will have a slimmer case and can fit under a dress cuff if you need to dress it up. It has the EZ link which will take out 5mm incase activity or weather makes your wrist swell a bit. It has a polished bezel as well which can show scuffs if you're likely to be hard on the watch face. It is also more "under the radar" for a Rolex piece. The Sub is iconic Rolex. Deeper water resistance, ceramic bezel, and the glide lock clasp are amazing. It is a tad thicker but can be dressed up pretty well. This has the option to have a date function unlike the Explorer so if that is important to you in a casual watch then it is a good option. IMHO you can't go wrong with either and I really admire both. I own the 114060 (No Date Sub) and love it. It is a daily wear and can really work with anything. Good luck and let us know what you pick. |

I purchased an OP39 with blue dial as a casual watch at the begining of the year, it fits the bill perfectly imho.

Explorer definitely more under-the-radar and less blingy than a Sub, so if that's what you are looking for in a casual watch I think that's a great choice. I love the Sub/GMT/SD lineup but they definitely scream ROLEX much louder than an Explorer

I’m a pretty casual guy, and I wear my GMT coke 100% of the time. Looks good in everything.

Of the two choices offered I'd go for the Submariner. But my favorite casual Rolex is the GMT Master II BLRO.

Either Explorer I or Submariner would be a good choice.

You’re on the right track with the Sub and Exp. I own both. Try them both on if you can. The Exp wears much lighter and slimmer on the wrist and it fits better under a sleeve. The sub is a beauty but it’s a tank. I am currently enamored with my Exp and it’s getting all of my wrist time.
Both are amazing in their own way. Good luck! |

I think both are great choices that can accomplish what you're looking to do. As was stated, the Explorer has an edge on the Sub with versatility (dressing it up/flying under the radar) but plenty of people would argue that you can do the same with the Sub...
Surprised that no one has thrown out the "get both" suggestion. Im a proponent of that :) |

Both work great. The Sub if you mean casual as in sport watch and the Explorer if you mean casual as in not too flashy

The Explorer is capable of being both very casual and somewhat dressy due to its clean lines and understated nature.

I don't care for ceramic bezels, so the Exp for me.

Really there isn't a standard Rolex made that isn't fit for casual wear. I'd worry more about what you like for a watch then whether or not it's fit for casual wear. Maybe avoiding yellow gold as it attracts attention but for me they're all fair game!!!

Both of those watches are pretty versatile imo, but out of the two I'd prefer the sub!

Sub or Explorer/II are great casual, all-around choices. Sub and Explorer II Polar if you want a little dial diversity.

Well, so many choices
Currently for me it's DSSD as casual and BLNR in the office. |
