Thoughts on the most wrist presence of SS models? Apparently I”m too close to Rolex
I was looking at the Rolex website and my wife happened to walk by and a conversation about wrist presence and “bling factor” came up. It turns out I am too involved with Rolex to get a sense of what the average person perceives from various Rolex models. I guess when you live and breath these watches for decades, your viewpoints are skewed.
Which SS Rolex do you feel has the most wrist presence and/or bling factor? Apparently I might not know as size, color and bezel hasn’t to be factored in. Does a SD50 have more bling factor than a LVc? Hell, I don’t know.. Let’s try to quantify this question from our own personal taste.

GMT, Ceramic Daytona, and other SS models with polished center links have more bling. The BLNR and new Pepsi are very shiny. The Explorer I, sub, and exp ii probably have less bling if you ask me. But the shine and huge lugs in the new pieces is why I will be sticking with the 5 digit ss models. I’m considering having the PCL of my Daytona and the top of the lugs brushed if I can find someone in the NJ/NY area to do it

I bought my Explorer because it’s under the radar. I wear it for me and nobody else. Each to their own.

That is why I purchased the explorer 1. I just like a good watch.

So what has the most wrist presence? DSSD JC or YM2. I kinda feel a sunburst also dial amps up the wrist presence factor. I wore a Bluesy for 18 years and that was off the scale but that is disqualified as being a TT and not a full SS.

My wife who isn’t a WIS thinks my black dial skydweller has the most, because of the fluted bezel and size.

Yup, my wife had a similar view with my DJ2 with fluted bezel and said it looked more traditional fancy Rolex.

Well if you want a watch that has wrist presence, it's hard to beat this one IMO

My vote goes to a YM2. The size, colors and bracelet draw attanetion. The DSSDs are big but easily interpreted as just another dive watch by the average person seeing it. The YM2 I think is different enough that it gets a double take.

I own essentially every SS over 36mm. The yachtmaster II gets commented on with regularity.
That, and any AP. |

blue z milgauss is going to get more compliments than any other SS model. The green crystal mixing with the blue dial creates an eye catching experience that's just too different from any flat dial or bling. Now I will put on my flame suit, I'm not saying it is the best watch or best looking, but it is SO different that people can't help but notice it. People are drawn to new.
Subs and any model that look close to it are so common you can almost guarantee no one will notice it. |

I can't say I'm surprised in Glasgow. Same reason I wear mine in some areas of London. Luckily my Pateks go unnoticed even in crap areas like Elephant & Castle etc

Fluted bezels would catch the eye most I would say so DJs and SkyDs. If out in bright sunshine then the LVc might if someone sees it at the right angle.

DJ41 with fluted bezel. Even the Oyster bracelet on DJ41 has PCL and high on the bling factor.

Where I live in FL, I am mostly surrounded by non WIS, hardly ever do any of my watches get noticed.. Few times, I can count them on one hand, did my SS Daytona 116520 white dial get a compliment.. Few others my old GMT 16523 rootbeer on Jubilee, because of the bling in the bracelet and the uniqueness of the sunburst brown dial. Couple more my YG sub 16618 blue dial. When in LA, no one really cares, too many luxury/bling watches for anyone to ever notice/comment on my choices. As far as wrist presence, bling factor in a SS Rolex, Sky-Dweller blue dial gets my vote.

I would assume a jubilee bracelet and fluted bezels would give the most blingyness...

Yea, that has to be way up there as its size and gloss dial is amazing. The brushed clasp and links take away any bling points and move it into more elegant tool.

I would say 90% of Rolex’s have a bling factor
Truly enough, a vast majority of people buy Rolex for their attention and bling. We also subconsciously buy them for bling and not realize it. People have said to me “wow you have a Rolex how much did you pay???” Sometimes the attention is not what I’m looking for, but that’s what you get with a Rolex |

My experience:
Nobody ever noticed either LV in wearing a green sub for 10 years. YG DD40 got way too much attention, spoken and otherwise. WG sub has been noticed by WIS only but it usually blows their mind to see one in the wild. Ceramic Daytona TBD. As for the original question I agree fluted bezel and polished center links would likely draw attention, my vote would go for the Sky Dwellers or the jubilee BLRO with the colorful bezel and shiny bracelet. |

For SS I'd say Sky Dweller. Big, shiny, sophisticated and looks it.

I think any TT Rolex with colorful dials and Fluted Bezel...
Although my Bluesy gets commented on often by strangers... |

I would tend to agree with this and I don't see it as a bad thing. The YMII just comes out and screams at you from that big case size, big blue bezel, lettering on the bezel, PCL's. Love the watch but maybe not one to use if you want to fly under the radar
