Waiting list UK

Good afternoon or morning, all depends on when you’re reading this?

So I’ve been on a waiting list with my local AD for a 116610lv for 15 months now.

My question to you guys in the UK is this normal or does this seem a long time?

Thanks

15 months means around last July/Aug? If so with the price break out in Aug your timing could not have been worse. 1.5 years does seem a long wait, esp if you were on the list before the hype and therefore not a def flipper, I'd push your AD a bit more.

Some of them are quoting 5+ years so I'd say 15 months is pretty good.
No guarantee of them honouring it though.

My AD in the South West say they haven''t seen a Hulk this year. The list has been closed for some time and they don't expect that everybody on it will get one.

I went grey. The AD were happy for me to take it to them for authentication.

I have a 116613LB on order from the same AD. They are saying between 6-12 months, probably closer to 12. I'm 4th on the list.

since WL's are fluid i wouldn't get a warm fuzzy feeling waiting that long as bigger spenders come in every day so you may have not moved up at all during that time. I would talk to the AD and have a realistic conversation about it.

I'd bit the bullet and go grey.... I still believe a lot of the 'waiting lists' are mythical. A lot of AD's wont even take your name down now for an LV now

Like Tyler says, the big spenders will hoover up any desirable SS models as soon as they come in. I was offered a SS Pepsi at retail 'within a few weeks' if I also bought the white gold model. The same AD had one in the safe along with a white daytona.

I have been waiting 15 months as well for an LV with my local AD. I enquired and they said they got 3-4 so far this year...so guessing I will be waiting for some time still..

Got mine in 7 months from UK AD with no history, (I don't live in UK , but prices are cheap)

Your wait is way too long, you should press them

I waited nearly 5 years for a Daytona........you could have a long wait ahead. Irony is that what I paid after 5 years as the RRP from my AD was actually more than was being asked in the grey market when I first put my name down......makes you think!!

I am on the list for a SD43, a GMT SS and a Hulk, I pass to see them or call at least once a month and not even close to be delivered. While plenty of these models are for sale on the net, the AD will sell for people who are interested in making quick money not to watch lovers.
I’ll get one in 2 or 3 years if lucky.

This made me move away from the brand.

I was on the waiting list for a steel Sky-dweller from the moment they came out until a month ago when I phoned the AD to ask about progress. they told me they had scrapped all waitlists as they were getting too long and they could not guarantee I would ever get one. (Good of them to let me know!).

I’ve now been waiting 8 months for the standard Sub Date (not LV). I was originally quoted 6-9 months, but I’m not confident of this happening. I’ve been contacting them inbetween to show I’m ready and keen to purchase. If after 9 months, I’ve still heard nothing, I think I will bite the bullet and go grey.
Depending on what you were quoted when putting your name down on the waiting list, I would consider going down the grey route for an LV, as this is going to be far harder to get!

I did the numbers on a grey Daytona way back when... it was around 14k

If with regular price increases over 5 years the gap was too much.

I’m pretty annoyed with my Daytona wait. I choose the wrong AD and there is no point swapping now.

It’s taking flipping (no pun intended) ages.

Unless you are a VIP it would be unrealistic to expect an automatic callback from an authorised dealer. If you're not a VIP I would suggest calling in regularly to find out how the queue is progressing, this ensures you are not forgotten especially when staff leave and your details are not retained. Sales advisors in the ADs move on very quickly in London.

When I called the AD today to see how my order of watches are doing , they said there is no list with names & numbers on it’s not a simple list , , they said “ it’s up to the Powers above “
This gives me no faith whatsoever with such a big AD !

Exactly.
The MD or boss of the AD will always have a more important customer when a desirable model arrives.
VIPs, celebs and big spenders always jump the queues.

Lists have always been dynamic and VIP’s, big buyer or even AD friends get bumped to the front, it’s only really come to light or should I say to the forefront in recent times due to the high demand of the market at the moment!

If you are not a VIP or a big buyer all I can advise is pop in and get to know the AD and build a relationship on that level.

If you don’t want to play the game maybe look at other brands, I’ll be honest I’m still in with the two Rolex AD’s I use but have grown tired of the brand, sure I’ll still enjoy them and will be back one day but for now it’s all getting a little silly.

I’m not so sure about that, but I’m certain traditional lists now no longer exist.
I’m fine with that, and from the AD point of view, it makes sense.

These pieces can be used strategically to build business and sweeten relationships.

Fair? Not really but that’s just life.

I know they are not that hard to find, however I even struggled to find a DJ41 in blue (smooth bezel). For those looking for one in blue or Rhodium, they had one of each at Bucherer Covent Garden London 2 days ago and they are expected to receive one within two weeks at Wakefield Horsham.

that hardly ever works. Seeing you in the shop sometimes does. good luck

people call my AD all the time when im in there, they actually dont answer stock questions hardly ever and they say stop by and we will show you what we have. Regardless if its a DJ or a Daytona they just wont conduct business on the phone. If they already know you its different.

You're being very generous Sam with the getting silly now, it's been cray cray for ages, I remember May of last year and I called an AD with a LVc in the window that had been alerted to me courtesy of a member here and the sales person got super paranoid, kept asking how I knew the watch was for sale, told me he can't sell it and then he went and took it out of the window. And this was all before the disco rumours that put the LVc in play.

Anyone now trying to make sense of WLs has no chance.

If all you are going to do is put your name on lists and sit back and wait you will be waiting a while on most watches. Without high end VIP status there is no way they can know who you are, just another name on a list. If you really want the watch get aggressive in your search. See what the greys have, price is always a issue but asking price is a lot different than getting price. Find the best deal from a reputable dealer and pay or be happy waiting.

Yeah, I had to wait 12 months for my Sub and I put my name down in early 2017.

My recommendation is just put your name down, be patient and pop in every few months to say hi and ask how it's looking.

I nipped in 3 times over 12 months and fired a few emails too. Just make them aware you're serious and if they're an honorable AD, then you'll eventually get you watch.

I recently made a purchase from AD for a datejust 41. I got the bug and want either a pepsi or blue SD43. I sent the AD a nice email to keep me in mind if they ever get either of my requirements. They replyed with a nice email saying they will certainly keep me in mind but made me aware that these 2 pieces are very hard to come by. I will be following up with a email at the end of November and pop in around Christmas. Im in no rush as i am still on honeymoon period with my datejust 41 lol.

Got mine about a month ago at London AD after waiting for 9 months.
Just need to keep showing face and making them aware of your ability to buy immediately.
