Sub questions.. 16610 LN LV maxi dial and 14060M

Hi,

Excuse my lack of knowledge here but I just looked up how to replace an insert and it looks really easy! That got me thinking I could get a black insert for my 16610 LV. But then I thought I may as well sell my LV, buy an LN and a genuine LV insert as that could free up several thousand pounds and go towards a 16710. Is that a good idea?

So I was looking at prices for 16610 LNs and was surprised to see most dials don’t appear to be Maxi. I’m obviously wrong but I thought the Maxi dial replaced the non maxi dial around 2002 when the LEC was etched into the crystal?

I’ve seen LNs from as late as 2010 advertised and they don’t look like maxi dials to me. Did maxi and non maxi sell side by side?

Is it better to get a Maxi dial or just down to personal preference?

Also what’s the difference between a 16610 and a 14060M - they look the same to me?

Thanks,
Duncan

Maxi dials are only on genuine 16610LV plus slightly different hands and green insert apart from that just a normal 16610.And nothing rare about any 14060M although the 4 line made in smaller amounts still thousands of them around, the 116610 and 114060 ceramic insert watches have maxi dials.

Thanks, I guess I’d better just keep the LV then as I kind of like the maxi dial.

14060M is the no date sub?

Shame they didn’t do a maxi dial 16710. I’ve seen a few mods on here and think they look pretty good.

Although for diversity it wont be a bad thing to get a non maxi dial.

Not on the 16610. The maxi dial didn't become common to all Subs until the six-digit range. On five-digit Subs, only the LV has a maxi dial.

L means Lunette, or insert

N means noir, or black

The letter designations here have no bearing on the dial.
