Two tone watch decision

For my next watch I want a two tone watch, which I plan to purchase in the next couple of weeks.

Up until recently I was planning for that to be a two tone Datejust 41 with a white or silver dial flutter bezel and jubilee bracelet.

I was not looking at the sports models at all, although I do really like the Tudor black bay S&G, which I would like to eventually get. If I were to get a two tone sub then this would not be necessary.

Yesterday I started thinking about the submariner with the blue dial. The dial is nice I have seen it in person.

This has left me a bit torn. I do like Datejusts. I think I have a natural tendency to lean more towards them, I am not a huge sports watch person.
Size wize I am 6ft5in and have a 7.5ish wrist so I can pull of either.
However value retention has popped up in my mind.

Do you think a two tone sub would hold up better than a two tone Datejust?

Which of the two watches do you prefer more?

Which would you pick and why?

As far as what other watches I own:

Rolex Submariner Ceramic date.
Rolex Datejust 41 white dial flutted bezel jubilee bracelet
Rolex Datejust 41 dark rhodium dial smooth bezel oyster bracelet
Lange 1 white gold
Audemars Piguet star wheel yellow gold
Glashütte original panomatic lunar (original dial)
JLC reserve de marche
IWC Spitfire tsz utc
Blancpain leman triple date moonphase
Chronoswiss regulator
Montblanc star steel chrono
Omega seamaster quartz midsize.

I believe a two tone sub will hold up better than the datejust.

They are both absolutely stunning pieces. The blue sunburst dial looks amazing on the sub! nearly bought this sub as my first Rolex, but ended up picking up a brand new SubC which suited me better at the time as a little more understated.

I currently have in my collection a 2016 datejust two tone fluted bezel silver dial on oyster bracelet, I picked this up used at s great price and very happy with it, I tend to wear it out as a “dress” watch.

You alstesdy have two datejust so for that reason I’d go for the sub, and you would t regret either choice.

You have a couple of DJs so go for the TT Sub.

Rolex sport models appear to hold their value a bit more than the Datejust. I don't quite understand why people don't like TT watches as much as the SS models. I have both and like both but yellow gold has always appealed to me.

They're both going to hold up the same, IMO. Since you've already got a couple of DJ's, I would suggest the sub.

Given your collection, I would consider the chnr gmt (root beer).

I thought about (root beer) that but I do not travel that much. Also I am lazy about setting an extra hand.

I would suggest Rootbeer as well otherwise I would go for Bluesy since you already own a couple of DJs.

TT Sub with the Sunburst dial is stunning. That'd be my vote. Happy hunting.

I owned the T/T Sub with the Blue Dial & Bezel it really is a spectacular Watch but I traded it for the Daytona (116503 New Model) with the White MOP 8 Diamonds Dial. I had to put a considerable amount of money to what I got for the Sub but I’m very happy with the New Daytona. These are a couple of photos of my New Watch

CHNR GMT for me too. Which AP do you have, the Millenary star wheel, don't see that often?

I have the regular one. I wish I had the Millenary one but I was not able to find one when I was looking to purchase mine.
Regardless I still like it, I like that it has a display back too.

I"m 6' 4", 7.5 inch wrist as well (thought I was 8' wrist, but must have measured wrong, or was swollen ha!) and the blue Submariner is a stunning watch, of my YG Day-Date and Daytona, the Bluesy gets a lot of wrist time...one of those you can't stop staring at, mesmerizing IMO

I mostly like under the radar watches in stainless steel. This I am buying as a special watch for an important achievement.
As far as having a full pm watch. I do not want something that expensive both for budgetary considerations and because I do not like wearing something that expensive.

I am lusting for a DJ41 TT yellow gold with a jubilee, fluted bezel and a silver or white dial.

Bluesy makes sense in your collection since you already have DJs. I would consolidate the DJs and go for a DD, instead of bothering thinking about TT DJ.

You should look at the GMT 116713LN as well. Its absolutely stunning and I've held the CHNR and it side by side - honestly the 116713LN looks heaps better to me.

I think a two-tone Daytona is a real opportunity. You have a couple of Date-Just models and a Submariner already, so I think this may be your time for a Daytona :-)

I would go with the TT Submariner.
I have always worn Datejusts throughout the years until I recently purchased a TT Submariner with a Slate Serti Dial. The blue dial is beautiful and the Sports watches will continue to increase in value more so than the Datejust. You already have two Datejusts, so why not also have two Subs, but make sure that you buy what you love the most.

I have a TT Sub and whilst I was under the impression the sub holds it value well recently I have been looking to sell (to buy a TT DJ41) valuations for my sub have fluctuated wildly! Although I have been advised not to sell my sub for the dj41 as a sub holds value way better than a dj.
