Jungle Artic Safari watch

Just out of curiosity, what watch would you recommend for high intensity activity; jungle walks, extreme cold weather, water, and Africa safari hikes that is durable, sturdy, reliable, can take impacts and can go into any environment? Strap?

Casio G Shock (solar)

Light, completely unbreakable and no one will care.

Well....since this is in the Rolex section — I’m going with an Explorer II.

Unfortunately they aren't used as the tools they were originally mean to be anymore, but in the past people have done this and lots more to Rolexes. An explorer or sub would both thrive in this environment, as long as you don't mind some scratches and character

Are you looking to buy a watch or use one that you already own?

A wide variety of Rolex watches would certainly take the adventure, however I"m not sure if it would be the most prudent thing in the world to wear. Casio or Seiko wouldn't even think twice.

If you want an indestructible TURD on your wrist, have at it. If you wear a Rolex you have a nice piece that has sentimental value & a story for generations.
Love the 392 avatar 😁

Happy Gilmore accomplished all of those feats no more than an hour ago wearing a patek.

I got a great laugh from this!!!

I was debating on whether to go with the 392 avatar, or 6.4L for our European friends on here

Probably a cheap watch that I would not mind losing, having stolen, or ruining.

If these are not concerns and/or you want a higher end watch for the adventure, I would go with the Explorer II as it’s pretty much what the watch was designed for.

A G-Shock GW-M5610. If you want a larger dial or want to track 2 time zones at once, the GW-M6900.

Great thread to follow. I love watches that are as tough as they are beautiful. I'm tough on everything.

Rolex Explorer II 216570 42mm. Best I can tell it's the toughest Rolex ever made. Mine has seen -35F, +125F, hiked, hunted, bloodied, extensive shooting sessions, extensive drinking sessions, freezing water, ice, hot water, steam rooms, falls, impacts. Never misses a beat. The larger dial and big hands make it easy to read no matter how brutal the conditions.

Whatever you choose, be sure to post some pics of your watch in some cool locations.

Why does Africa or the Arctic play a particular role?

It was colder in NYC than the Arctic a couple of weeks ago...

And Australia can be just as hot as Africa.

Any Rolex Oyster can handle those varied environments methinks.

There is this crazy new thing called "personal property insurance." I pay $89.00 a year for an old TT sub bluesy.
