That's a PVD coated Sub. And no, Rolex will NOT touch this watch. The PVD coating is an aftermarket watch modification, and will void the Rolex warranty.

It's a bit of an aquired taste. Not for me though. It's also pretty expensive listed at Euro8,500 by the dealer.

I personally like it but it's just a trend of the moment. Everyone will soon forget about this PVD stuff.

Does anyone know what exactly these PVD coatings are? Will they have issues with sensitive skin?

I kind of like it. It takes a relatively common watch, and makes it unique.

I believe it's like a micro bead blast. Kinda like an anodized finish, in other words...it scratches off.

Looks different. Not a huge fan of aftermarket mods though

PVD is VERY hard, and resists scratches very well due to its hardness...

yes very true, but like other brands the OEM warranty lasts how long? i rarely hear of any rolex problems and if there were some your local certified watchmaker can easily fix them since these movements are so simple... not like its a skeletonized AP or Vach ;-)

Rolex is a TOOL watch not a "luxury watch" and PVD it looks sick as hell hahah.

dial doesnt indicate either, looks like private job.. i really dont like the name prohunter/bamford on the dial personally... its not about having it be "designer" but i like the "tool" aspect of it... taking a tool we wear everyday and applying a true tool finish to it to make it more wear resistant...

PVD was originally created to coat TOOLING to make it more resistant to wear... it wasnt designed to make drill bits and engine parts pretty ;-) so it takes a badass tool watch to the NEXT level imo.

I too like the PVD look, the best seem to be from Pro-Hunter folks in England.
