How long to wait for Sub?

Hi All,

Brand new to the forum. Can anyone tell me how long a wait would be for a Date Sub from an AD? Thinking about buying from Joma, but would prefer buying from AD (warranty).
Thanks!

Well obviously the AD is the one who can answer that since all ADs will have different stock and availability.

I’d reach out to your local AD (actually go in) and spark the convo. Try to communicate any previous history whether it be from you, family or friends. Michigan shouldn’t be too hard to find one if it’s similar to Ohio.

Best answer: it depends on the AD and their location. Some here have waited months, some got it by walking in at the right time and place. Stop in to one or two around you and strike up a conversation and ask?

Good luck in your search!

If you don’t want to wait go trusted seller great ones here. Your sub will be a little over MSRP but will come with a full warranty etc. it will not be 1000s over list like some models.

2 weeks I suspect subs come to dealers every 2 weeks. Rolex is also doing more frequent deliveries. So I would just check in with the AD every 2 weeks. Figure out the day of delivery typically. Hope that helps

I would estimate between 3 to 12 months. Put down a deposit which usually helps.

Got the 114060 from an AD in Ohio in January. It was a two week wait. I had a previous non-Rolex relationship with the AD.

2-3 months is what several ADs told me.

JOMA might not include warranty card and have their own warranty. Of course this
affects resale big time.

I picked up a no date sub at the end of December from my AD. I dropped by the same AD about a week ago and he said they didn't have another sub come in again until the beginning of March. He said it can vary but they usually tell customers 3-4 months for a sub but that can vary based on the wait list. This is a fairly good sized AD in a major city (Boston) so I'm not sure if that should be factored into the equation as well.

I wouldn't look to Joma with a Rolex. The secondary values are too great to not have a proper warranty.

Go to an AD and just wait. Could be a month if it stays the same, if Basel update may be years.

The key imo is to connect with the manager of the AD shop. The hard to get sport models have to be approved by the AD manager.

Impossible to answer. It’s all based on the AD you visit. Go in and ask. If you’ve never purchased a thing from them...be prepared to hear a lengthy / uncertain turnaround time.

As others have said here, go in and strike up a conversation with your AD. While there, you may get lucky and find one in the case. This happened to my buddy in FL last week.

I gave up after four months in the Washington DC market and bought my Submariner from DavidSW at a mark-up.

I visited every AD within 125 miles (4) and called every AD from NJ to NC.

Ran out of patience - went grey.

Granted, in the DC area there is a very high demand for these watches.

Good for you. I think too many people underestimate the value of their own time.

SubC date should not be that difficult to obtain. I found one for a friend in Jan and bought mine from an AD last June. As mentioned above there is not much of a premium through trusted sellers when you add sales tax (at least for my state). Happy Hunting!

I talked to my local AD in Syracuse NY weeks ago about getting a date sub. He said it would be over a year! They said they have been waiting months and still haven't received any shipments from Rolex.

I'm in NYC and snagged a Sub ND from an AD last week -- got the call after one week. I was considering trusted sellers too. You should probably call every AD nearby, let them know you're local and ready to pull the trigger. That may help shorten the wait time.

I just checked; one of the trusted sellers (a David-ish character of SW in Florida) has Subs, unworn, protectives in place, with warranty. I'm not a Sub kind-of guy, but my DJ41 included the warranty card.

The wait is about 1 to 2 years in Ontario, Canada, but there is always 1 or 2 pieces tuck away in the safe for VIP customers to purchase right away.

All of Canada is sold out for this year. They won’t even put you on the wait list. Just impossible to buy one right now. If you can get your hands on one buy it.

Welcome to the forum.

I would stop by the nearest AD to your location. Maybe even phone a few. Tell them what you’re looking for and see how it goes. I’m sure there are quite a few AD’s in Michigan. Jomashop would be my very last resort.

I’d probably wait a month and if nothing happens, I’d go the Trusted Seller route. Just keep checking the classified here for private and TS sales. If you go the private or TS route, be sure to do your homework.

Good luck.
