Daytona vs Sky-Dweller
Looking to purchase a second watch. Already own a DJ2 Blue face which is my go to dress watch.
I would be looking at white/stick faces on both of these. Daytona would have to be a pre-ceramic and the SD would be a SS version. What are thoughts from the experts? |

A Daytona and DJ2 seems like a better combo. The DJ2 and SD look very similar in many respects.

I would say Daytona as will be a different size to your DJ2.
No wrong choices however. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not an expert but my advice is to try them both on. One wears like a watch, the other like a giant hubcap that flew off a caddy and landed on your wrist as you were walking along minding your own business. I won't say which is which. ;-)

are you referring to the SkyD or SD? I think it may be confusing for some on this thread. Assuming SkyD, i would go for Daytona all day no matter what, and its a little different than the DJ2. The SkyD is nice but its a #2 watch after the Daytona.

I like the Sky Dweller because it could be mistaken for a DJ at a casual glance - not than anyone in here would make that mistake. I agree with others, that it might look a bit too similar to your DJ. A Daytona would not. However, the Sky Dweller is a big watch for a Rolex and the Daytona is too small to be easily legible, unless you just want the sub dials for show. I think you need to meet them both in person. I'd go Sky Dweller. But I'm biased.

I’m bias, I’d say sell the DJ and get both the SkyD and Daytona. This way you have the best of both worlds, a DJ lookalike w an AC & GMT function and a chronograph.

Actually I love the blue sky dweller in steel . It is rare . More so than the Daytona. At least my Ad gets less blue skydwellers than steel Daytona’s. It is the blue Mauritius in the Rolex line up. For what it is , it is a bargain by Rolex standards. Hard to decide between the two.
I probably take the skydweller if I had to choose. |

It really depends on your wrist size. Daytona is better for wrists under 7" and Sky-dweller is better for over.

Pretty different watches.. One is actually smaller than the advertised size and the other wears pretty large on the wrist for smaller wrists like mine. I really like the SkyD but just couldnt pull it off.. so I prefer the Daytona! I also have a Daytona so I'm biased. I also think the Daytona will add more variety to your DJ as the SkyD, to me, is just a larger DJ with complications.

Given you are not letting your DJ II go, the sensible choice is the tiny little Daytona.
However, as an owner of SkyD white - it is a great watch and prefer it very much over Daytona (which is on the shopping list). As somebody stated above, the ideal combo for you would be owning both. Annual calendar, Gmt and chrono in two watches.

The price of the sky dweller blue is really to much.
I am going to “meet” Them both. Leaning Daytona. |

The DJ and the Daytona would make the better combination.

Honestly I’m not a fan of 2 tone. But the skydweller in white 2 tone might be the best option for you. It will look different then your DJII assuming it’s the steel version and on the grey market they are about the same price new as the all steel. I have a 7.5 inch wrist and it fits really nice imo.
