Dust particle in brand new OP39 :(
Hey guys I’m new to the forum, and a new Rolex owner! But sadly I purchased a black OP39 and found a particle or something stuck to the underside of the crystal.... Sadly once I seen it I couldn’t un see it, it was very bad if you went outside. Very disappointing this happened I know it happens. So I took it back to my AD I bought it from and he said all the years he only had to send back 2 Rolex’s.... that’s my luck... He said he could try and vacuum out the particle but seemed hesitant to do so, idk if he just didn’t want to work on it or was worried about messing it up, or adding even more particles.. I hope he actually was worried about my watch and wasn’t being lazy. So he said he has to send it back to Rolex , and I asked him are you sending it to a service center? And he replied no I’m sending it back to Rolex, I hope he isn’t sending this all the way back to Geneva. If so who knows when I’m going to see my watch again I only had for a week... Do you guys know how long this process usually takes he said 3-4 weeks but I heard even longer. Just trying to get some reassurance I’m going to see my watch again this is very sad and unexpected.

Just had a convo About something similar. A friend had a watch serviced through Ben Bridge, took well over a month. Ben Bridge implies the watch ended up in Geneva instead of RSC NY or Dallas. I’m sure you can track down your answer through the AD.

I noticed a dust particle on the dial of my GMTIIc a couple of months after I bought it (new from AD). I sent it directly to RSC NY myself. Was gone for about a month. Simple, straightforward. In the scheme of things 4wks is not a lot of time. I see no reason why anyone (in the US) would be sending it to Geneva...

I had a large dust particle on my 16610, possibly a flake of skin, anyhow I tapped the crystal directly above it with tremendous force (finger tip was killing me) but the particle disappeared and never seen again.

The Rolex authoritarian model has AD’s running scared. The issue you described is dreadful fortunately not fatal. I know that dread of being separated from a new watch after only a week. The AD don’t want to do damage and the anecdotes point towards a manufacturer who favours centralised command. “Play it our way” or find yourself out of the Rolex game. Sad but looks like you’re an early victim of he new new regime and I don’t mean regimen.
So far, I’ve yet to see Rolex display any humour, humanity or self deprecation. Even Apple does this. They are stitched down. If it ain’t broke,...you may say but this will end in tears. |
