PAM560 - Painted Dial
Hi all,
Just wanted some advice here. Just started a small humble watch collection, and one of my recent addition was a PAM560. Never did much research into Panerai before I did my purchase (one of the ADs were having a sale and was able to get PAM560 at a 25% - so it was a rather impulse purchase given other customers were also looking at this only piece). Only after reading up more, I realized that probably I should have gotten a sandwich dial, especially I am only looking to add one watch from Panerai in my collection. So, would need some advice here, should I sell this watch (and hopefully minimize losses), and get another Panerai? If so, what Panerai would you recommend? Or should I just use this piece, as for all I know, I will add another Panerai to my collection in the future, and I can get a sandwich then? Thank you. |

I have a 560 with sandwich dial. If I was in your shoes with that great deal, I would enjoy the 560 you purchased. If you think about it you were probably happy with your purchase until you read some of the forums and learned about the sandwich dial. Forget about that stuff and go back to enjoying your watch.
btw - My first Panerai was a 111E about 20 years ago. It had a painted dial and it had the best lume of any Panerai I've ever owned. Also received the most compliments on that watch. |

I personally like the painted dials better and feel there’s equal if not greater Panerai DNA in these vs sandwich.

Unless you really want a sandwich dial because you prefer the look that much I would keep what you have and enjoy it.

I’m late to the party here but I have both and the legibility of the painted dial is vastly superior to the sandwich. Having said that the sandwich dial has a certain “neato” factor to it. If you have one then enjoy whichever it is for what it is and if you can then buy one of each.

I’m looking to return to Panerai. I have had both painted and sandwich. Lume is great on both. I’m looking for an older base model and would absolutely have an early 112 with painted dial over a later sandwich dial model that didn’t have decorated movement. If you’re not happy see if you can move it on.

I'd stick where you are and be happy with it. Even after the 25% off, you will get clobbered by selling or trading with an AD or dealer. And selling PAM on your own isn't easy.
You have a nice piece, enjoy it! |

Keep the watch. I wouldn't bother to sell and buy another one just because of painted vs sandwich dial.
Just buy a sandwich dial for your next PAM :)

I think both have an equal home. I would keep it and enjoy it. If you didn't notice while shopping its not that big a deal.
