Reinforcement 116520 over 116500

Lately, I've been hit by the 500 bug in white. That panda dial along with the black ceramic make it a great contrasting looking watch! What a gorgeous one. I've been contemplating the trade with my black 520, but yet at the same time, the black dial with steel bezel is also gorgeous and very smart looking, a bit more dressy whereas the 500 is more sporty.

I need to talk myself into keeping the 520 as I will regret selling it for the 500. I keep telling myself that I would also need to add another $4000USD.

Gotta stay calm ... breathing in... breathing out... stay away 500!

Hard choice, but the black dial you have is a stunning watch and should definitely be kept. It is a classic, and Rolex is not making anymore. If you care about value, it will go nowhere but up.

I would keep it, and enjoy to the fullest. At the end of the day, it is just a piece of ceramic and slightly different dial. It is not as dressy as the 116520, in fact I find the 500 to be on the very sporty side due to the ceramic bezel.

Try to trade some other pieces to get the 500. Then You will have both

Agree. Would not trade 520 black plus cash for 500 white, trade others or just add the 500.

I was thinking about this exact same trade as I have a black 520 and 500. Seems like the smart thing to do is keep it.

I wouldn't trade the 116520 for the 116500....ever! The steel bezel appeals to me more. More classier.

I'll keep both if I were you. I never sell my Rolexes, especially Daytonas. I have the white 520, if I were to buy the black 500 someday, I'll be defenetly keeping both: the Yin and the yang.
Cheers.

Thanks for all the responses so far! The reason for this post is because I'm on the fence over this one and either I keep it or let it go. I know that they make a good pair (Black & White) but as I have many other watches in the collection, I'd like to keep just one of this model.

I wish I had added a poll, but it seems like the majority here are swaying towards keeping the 520 instead of flipping for the 500. Adding it is not an option for sure.

Don’t sell the 520, prefer mine to my 500 . Such a nice watch.

Are you looking for a more sporty watch or a more dressy watch? That'll answer your question. Both are timeless.

I thought I faced the same dilemma about two years ago. Thankfully, I’ve kept my 116520. I still want a 116500, but I’m simply going to have to find another way to obtain it.

Even though there are quite a few of them on the market, the truth is that the 116520 is no longer being produced. It’s gone from production and it is never coming back. There is a lot to be said for that when dealing with Rolex, especially a Daytona model.

If only we could forsee them to follow the same exact path that we see the 16520 Zenith, that'd be great!

I would keep the black 520 and if possible somewhere down the line, add the white 500.
