Panerai 233 stopped working
I have a 2010 233 am/pm dial which I bought pre owned in 2015. Not sure if it has been serviced before I bought it.
The watch was working fine but when I wore it the other day the date change between date number 8 and 9 there was an issue with the hour hand getting stuck and does not move. Every other date seems to be fine. Any ideas? I will have to take it in to Panerai and see what they think and no doubt get it serviced. Just wondering if anyone has had this issue. Also does anyone know how much a uk service on a 233 costs? |

You’ve got the right idea. Panerai is your best bet. I’d expect a price in the $750-1000USD space.

I sold my 233 because I was concerned with the movement. I’m sure Panerai can fix it. My issue was the crown would not “seat” all the way in when the lever was closed. So when I opened the lever to wind it, the hour hand would move instead of winding. I’d heard of other issues, so it fell from favor. I hope you get it fixed and have no further issues.

This was Panerai's first in house movement I believe. I have never heard of significant issues in the past, but it would not surprise me if earlier models had some quirks.

I had a similar issue with my 233 and it was around $800 to have it fixed.

Mine’s a first year model and luckily no issues yet. Service centre is the way forward.

I had multiple problems with my K series dot.
First it stopped like yours. I heard it was a fang issue. Then the hour hand wouldn't jump, just twitch when you tried to alter it. The last one was it got splashed in a wash basin, and the next day the dome fogged. The crown was clamped. So much for having a diver watch heritage... 5500 HKD when it wasn't in warrantee. Still love it, but I am babying it now |

Sorry to hear it. All AM/PM dials are post-fang-issue so no clue as to the why.
I have had great results* with my 233N (2011 bought in 2012) and to this day, one of my most accurate watches. *knocks on wood... Your Boutique will send it in to CH as it's an in-house movement. Good luck & keep us posted

Took it in and waiting for the estimate. They said it was in Great condition and didn’t need a polish. What does everyone think should I ask for it to get polished?

Why do you say that. Would they not do a good job or ruin the shape. There are a few scratches on there that were there when I bought the watch. Wouldn’t mind getting it back to new or would they ruin the shape of the case Estimate came back at £500 and an extra £75 if I want the polishing |

I only said that because your 233 looks awesome as is. I had my 217 also serviced & specially wrote "only light polishing" just to be safe.
Go 4 it

Lol. Ok. Have told them to go for a light polish as well as I figured I want the watch back to as good as new. It will be better then when I bought it as I bought it pre owned. |
