Icon4 Am I nuts?

I have a SD43 / SD50th in excellent condition but hanker after a SD 16600 with SuperLuminova (not Tritium). I am thinking it’s silly to own both - so would be looking to sell the 43 for and older 40 non-ceramic and pocket the change? Am I nuts?

I might be the one nuts having 3 SD. I would keep the SD43 especially if it's a MK1 and add others though.

Own both. On the topic of silliness, if you don't do saturated diving why own a SD, or if you never dive to 100m why even a Submariner. These are jewelries so own as much as you can

I’m biased, but I think the SD43 is one of the best looking watches in the current Rolex catalogue. People who are put off by the cyclops and the size might disagree but presumably you wouldn’t have bought it in the first place if you were in one of those camps.

I do though think it’s different enough from 16600 (to a WIS if not to a normal person) that both can co-exist in a (large) collection.

What he said. Only nuts if you flip it for it. Own both and decide which you prefer.

If you’re a collector it is ok to have both. Don’t over think it

HA, you took the words off my mouth. I dive but not at these depths and I would not dive with an expensive Rolex. Hence, I do not own a SD or a Sub. However, if someone just like the watch for whatever reason, why not? I was going to say I would not own 2 of the same thing but I really cannot. As I own 2 DDs. One is iced with YG and the other PT and they look different.
If one can afford it just buy the extra watch that one likes.

3 SDs here as well. A 16600 and two 116660 (one blue that I wear, one black fully stickered). I see nothing wrong! Well, except that I probably need to sell a Deepsea and pick up the SD43 for a pretty nice trio.

Thank you for all the replies. I nearly sold the SD43 but came to my senses.

Now just need to decide what age and condition to get the SD 16600 and how important full box and papers are.

I have a SD43, SD4K, 16600, and 16660. We’re all mad here!

My advice is always buy as many Sea-Dwellers as possible.

Yep, let me join in on the madness as well

To the OP, I really would try to keep what you have, and try swing a 16600 when funds and opportunity present themselves
