Personally I think with all the hype around ss models it’s a great time to pick up a leather strap model with complications!

Here we go again with the day traders. If you don’t mind me asking, do you have any interest in owning and wearing this watch or is your enquiry purely speculative?

I own 5205G-013. Sad to see. Worn it 3 times. It's not for me. Basically threw money out the window

I think it is a very pretty piece, and at this price might be a good one to get. However, it is harder to buy in this era, since sports across the board seems to hold value and dress doesnt. IIts hard to know if there is "value" in dress at this point.. it is a sizable expenditure. But getting a fairly new modern patek annual calendar seems like a nice way to go. Tough one.

Really gorgeous watch and have lusted after one since the first time I handled it in person. The fact that you can buy 2 of these for the price of one 5711 these days is just totally ridiculous to me.

I agree it’s a fantastic $35,000 watch. Not so sure about 50k though

Problem with hoping the Ss models drop so that it firms up the dress watch market is flawed...

If SS drops...
The dress watch market likely drops further.

Just a thought....Enjoy your Saturday

Interesting idea. I would think it depends on why prices would drop. If it is a global economic reason I second your opinion. But if it happens due to a change in client preference (say yellow gold becomes popular again) you could have dress watches go up when others are flat or down.

Prices drop because economy drops stocks drop wealth drops.

The change in preference is away from dress watches. Everyone is casual these days.

Agreed the current trend is away from dress watches. But perhaps that changes in the future. Much like watches kept getting bigger and bigger for a decade or more and now it seems to have pulled back a bit. The Breitling Emergency II was a breaking point for me. Lost my taste for Panerai for the same reason.

Tough to see that happen given the change in apparel trends. The world is moving more and more casual.

I agree. The demand for dress watches is unlikely to increase. But I do think there’s a good middle ground that may become more popular.

Sure... maybe if patekaholic shows pics of other references other than 5070, and some grand comps. Oh and the hats... lol

I kinda like the hats but I don’t like paying for stuff like that.

Yup. I was invited to Vegas or Arizona to play gold. I think I would have gotten it there...but I don’t play golf. So it would have just become a very expensive hat
