Waiting for a Submariner Update, Anyone Else?
Before pulling the trigger on a Submariner I'm waiting for an update to the movement and possibly the case in the future, feels over due at the moment. I did the same for the GMT II (thankfully it came through in 2018 & 2019) and hoping in 2020 perhaps an updated Submariner releases.
Anyone have a speculation on this and\or is waiting for a similar update? |

I’m pretty sure the sub will probably get updated in the next year or two.

Nope. Waiting for a platinum submariner though. So I guess that is an upgrade and update.

No interest in the Sub in its current form here.

I just bought a smurf. So... I’m hoping for no update any time soon. But if there, I still have smurf.

Think they'll go back to the previous case design? or a halfway between the blocky casing atm and the older style lugs?

Yeah I have the TT SubC and love it. Figure the next SS version will be available near a big birthday.

I'd like to see more colors.
Red sub would be cool. |

Same. I’m waiting to see what the newest iteration of the Sub is before I get back in that market.

Who knows when, but I’d say it’ll happen in the next couple of years or perhaps for the 70th anniversary....
Regardless, based on the “updated” GMT case, I wouldn’t expect any dramatic aesthetic update. |

I can just imagine it. New sub 2020. Available in ADs 2035.

⬆️⬆️⬆️ Agree! I’d expect movement update should start in 2020, but the physical “update/change” to the gmt was very minuscule, and I’d expect/assume the same for the Sub. That said...we’ve been surprised by Rolex a few times in the last couple years, but a big change in the sub line, aesthetically, would be a shock.

I would be keen to get mine before the update. I like the current movement and the case.

Why would you wait for a new movement?
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the one currently powering the Submariner. I’ve never understood the ‘movement wait’. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Not a massive fan of the "fat" submariner but would not wait if I wanted one.
Unlike smart phones, the old one is not obsolete as soon as the new one comes out. In fact, in many cases, the superseded watch is nicer and preferred. If you want a submariner, get one (assuming you can) now! |

So if there's not an update in 2020 will you be waiting till 2021? Then 2022? Then 2023? then????
If you like it buy it now. No sense in waiting for something that may not happen next year. |

I'm sure in the next couple years the Sub will get updated but I'd imagine it will be crazy hard to get once it gets released.

I don’t think the new movement is going to slim out the case at all. |

I am looking for the Sub with no luck at all. Seems like no deliveries any where. This leads me to believe the update is coming next year. But, it will be impossible to get the new models with the drought this year of the current models.

No kidding. The speculators waiting for their dreams to be fulfilled in a "new" Submariner that meets their personal aesthetic needs are wasting time. Life is short, buy it now and don't try to play the waiting game with the Rolex designers.

Solar powered. By then Grand Seiko will have surpassed Rolex as a premium model that you can actually buy with much better craftsmanship, and all of us Rolex buyers will be left with a premium stainless steel watch we paid $35,000 for that cost $3,500 to make - and even $3,500 is overpriced.

Hoping for a full sized model in 42mm with slimmer lugs.
