Wearing your AP during sports

Anyone here wear their AP playing golf, tennis, etc? There is an entire #APGolf network of brand ambassadors on IG who wear their APs golfing and of course Serena Williams playing tennis. If they’re doing it, any issues with the common man wearing an AP during similar sports? After all RM is worn in a whole host of activities. Other than the potential for the occasional scratch, is there any legitimate mechanical justification for not wearing an AP during golf or tennis?

I never wear my Offshore for golf and it isn’t recommended. The AP golf ambassadors that I’ve met and played with wear an AP for photos but not whilst playing. I do wear my Offshore for running, gym, swimming and squash (not on my racket hand). Golf is apparently pretty harsh on any mechanical watch.

I would wear it to play golf because my swing is so weak there is hardly any impact force. lol
Seriously, I would not wear it for Golf.

No although when I first bought the watch I chipped the bezel which was annoying, at the time I assumed that I’d done it playing squash but I’m not sure. Now I just wear the watch and enjoy it and not too fussed about scratches etc.

No for anything impact based.
Yes for anything else, subject to comfort level.

I'm undecided on clay pigeon shooting. When you shoot there's no 'impact' in the recoil, its similar to a push rather than a punch in the shoulder, but it is quite violent.

Not a very good idea at all. You will cause serious damage specially if complications are involved. Resulting in hefty service fees. Avoid.

AP is not RM. And that is a good thing.

I would avoid it. Not worth risking it.

Depending on the sport. I got a 15450 and I’ve been snowboarding with it several times. Also went indoor bouldering with it but ended up taking it off after a climb or two cause it felt like it’d easily get smashed into the wall when I fall haha Also took it off for golf cause that seemed like it’d put a bit too much stress on the watch and just decided to play it safe. I might not mind tennis tho since I wear it on my left hand and I’m a righty so it wouldn’t be getting much stress, but I haven’t played since I got it so I’d have to test out how it feels in the moment.

bad idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MH1rg1P5YT4

(summary = guy plays golf with his AP and it locks up the movement )

certain RM models are actually designed to absorb shocks (5000g etc)

I think the term "Sports watch" is kind of misleading as watches like AP Royal Oak and Patek Nautilus are labelled sports watch but I will say they are more like luxury sporty-looking watches. They are too fragile for playing sports without risking shocks and scratches. More suitable for this purpose are like Casio Gshock or perhaps Rolex and some high end watches from RM that are advertised for this purposes.

It depends on your circumstances if you are a famous sports star who can demand a new watch every month for free than wear it whenever you want, if you are not then tailor the wear to your lifestyle.

I only wear g shocks for sports. I don't like the added weight of steel watches on my wrist.

I would only wear an AP while working as a stuntman (sorry stunt person), playing rugby and various carnival rides. But that's just me

Worn it for swimming, gym, go karting, canoeing etc...nothing with too many shocks or damage potential. I wear and enjoy it, but don’t want to cause unnecessary damage. Wouldn’t play golf or racquet sports in it as I wear on my dominant hand so would get in the way too much.

It also comes off for shooting sports - the recoil would be too much I think for anything outside skeet.
