Rolex Milgauss

This model has really grown on me the past few weeks, especially the z-blue dial version. Viewed one today and must say one thing stopped me from buying it. I really dislike the second hand being shaped like a lightening bolt!

Is it just me or does anyone else feel they have ruined a beautiful watch with that hand?

Rolex Milgauss

The lightning bolt seconds hand is one of the reasons I love the Milgauss. The aesthetic design of this reference is unique and vibrant in comparison to the rest of the Professional line.

I love the lightning bolt but hate the lack of date. Funny how we all have our criteria.

It's part of the history of the watch and helps differentiate it from a regular Datejust.

Very nice watch to wear.Very individual as there is nothing else like it in the Rolex range.Blue dial, green tinted glass and lightening bolt second hand set it apart from almost anything else
Also holds value well but not as easy to get as of late.

I guess it just comes down to personal taste, I think its a beautiful watch really stunning dial when you see it in flesh. But that lightening bolt is just not for me I'm afraid, glad some of you guys like it though.

Don’t have it but have the AK which is essentially the same watch, only a different look. It is a substantial watch, love it on the wrist.
Too bad that the lightning bolt is a deal breaker for you, the blue/GV combo is unique in Rolex lineup

Before I purchased my Explorer I looked at the Milgauss. I too did not care for the second hand. I also didn't like the PCLs nor the slightly larger (40mm) case. I have come to appreciate the Milgauss more over time, however. The dials are relatively unique in the Rolex lineup and I feel they will age well as a result. The green crystal even more so.

In the end it does come down to what your personal preferences are and what you're looking for in a watch.

funny, I just posted my incoming on this. I love science and I think the hand and the history behind this watch makes it sciencey .....the second hand is one of the reasons why I purchased it......

I didn't like the lightning bolt when I first saw it but as I learned more about the watch I now feel that it's an important element of the watch and it's now one of my favorites.

Lightening bolt is the best part of the Milgauss for me. I had a white dial for a little bit and ended up moving on from it. But that's what makes the Milgauss special for me!

I partly agree OP, though I think ruined is over-egging it a bit. The Milgauss was the first Rolex to catch my eye and I would’ve pulled the trigger years ago but for the bolt. Still a great watch, mind.

I think they had to add the green crystal to keep any interest in the watch. Pretty much every Omega surpasses the entire point of the Milguass. I'd gladly take a Semaster 300 41mm with the 8400 in it if I needed an anti-magnetic watch without a date. I'll also take triple the water resistance and have over $5k left over. Plus I love how Omega cut out the indexes on the dial.

Sorry. I got off topic. I don't like the lightning bolt either.

Huh?

Is this an Omega fan boy crashing the Rolex Forums stereotype impression by a Rolex fan boy with a dry sense of humour who loves the lightning bolt and nails so well the pedantic minded thought process they possess?

I practically worship the Lightning Bolt!

And I like Jake Bugg’s song about it as well.

Any songs about that Omega? No.

You know why? Because the Milgauss is like Rolex Art and Art inspires Art and Art is Life and Life is Love...did I just get off topic too?

Touche I am a fan of all watches. Only offering my opinion on how I'd spend my money if I were shopping in the Milgauss department.

If I needed a watch that was antimagnetic, I would get an Apple Watch 5 for $380 and pocket the 5K difference from the Omega. I have personally seen it survive an active MRI machine. It allows on the go communication. It tracks my health. It has GPS. It allows me to track my finances and make payments in a snap. The Apple Watch leaves both Rolex and Omega watches obsolete in every regard to being a tool watch.

But I will never be as passionate about an Apple Watch as I am an obsolete mechanical watch.

The most unique piece they make (aside from the crazy expensive stuff like a Rainbow Daytona) IMO. I almost pulled the trigger on one last year but the faraday cage makes the watch stand tall on the wrist which I couldn't deal with.

Never seen one in the wild...yet.

The seconds hand definitely took a bit of getting used to but I loved my Z-Blue when I had it. Only got rid of it to make room for another purchase

It's like the un-cola of pop. I love the Milgauss, especially the GV with all the orange accents. Special character and personality.

You'll be fine, they make 300 other models without a lightning bolt hand. I hate the cyclops so I start with half the lineup.
